They aren't the same style actually.
Pay attention to the two superimposed pentagram shapes, they are almost identical to each other on the first style and very different from each other on the second style.
Also the silver color Y shapes on the second style remain split all the way up to the center hub, versus all Y shapes being fused together on the first style.

Good eye, the star pattern looks different as well.

I love it!!!

Amazing, I would even rather drive this than a Carrera.

I just don't like the frozen color, but the orange one is a bomb!

Interior is the perfect blend of sport and luxury.

Good catch.

I'd bet that both wheel styles will be offered from the factory on both the coupe and convertible. It's possible they are different sizes (although they doesn't necessarily to have different diameters), or perhaps one is a lighter weight wheel with an up-charge.

My previous m6 gc was a masterpiece.
M8 is just a nice looking Bmw.

Let's wait and see what the m8 gc looks like, but I'm not holding my breathe.

I remember the first time I saw the original 8 series, and the first time I saw the Z8....I LUSTED after those cars...

And when you saw them on the road? It was like seeing a spaceship amidst every other appliance on the road at the time.

This one is just kind of "that's cool".

I'm sure the performance, ride, handling, and build quality are all amazing, but it kind of just looks "bland".

There's nothing that stands out to me as striking or inspiring.

Very similar to every other modern Lexus, Mercedes, Audi, etc..

I just don't feel like this is an aspirational car.

I just don't feel emotional about it...

(My opinion only...rant over)

It is possible that BMW will for the first time offer a same size and diameter (20") wheel style alternative on one given model version (Competition), as standard (without going into the M Performance accessories range), instead of bundling each wheel style to a different diameter and model version. And maybe one style is lighter than the other indeed.

As such though, one style looks very much base version (black and diamond-cut silver bi-color) and the other looks very much Competition version (machined, slightly darker silver, single color), so who knows.

Literally 25+ other cars I would consider before either of these two for that price.

I didn't like 8-series in pictures. But when I saw it in person, I just loved it. It looks v mean and sharp. It doesn't look that big as it appears in the pictures. Can't wait to see M8 in person

do we have 600 hp and 617 hp? or just like the M5 (591 and 617)?

power in kW would make it clear
Purely for marketing reasons, the M5 engine puts out 600 bhp (608PS) only for U.S market cars but 591 bhp (600PS) for cars sold in the rest of the world. The same applies to the M8.

On the other hand, the M5 competition engine is rated at 617 bhp (625PS) for ALL markets. Likewise, the same applies to the M8 competition.

Is it just me or is the weight missing from the specs? I know it's not light but just curious to know what it is.

Most of the pics really don't do this car justice; especially the frozen "blue" coupe pics. Trust me, this car looks way better in person!
IMO, looks-wise (without the optional carbon fibre extra trim pieces on the front & rear), it's a step above the M850i.

4295 lbs. i.e 100 lbs lighter than the M5 which is remarkable for a coupe of this size.

It's nice, but it's price point is too high IMO. I'd lean for a new 992 911 over this car for that price.
