Well shit me a golden egg and call me Shirley, Acura puts a V6 in the TSX

Acura just unveiled the 2010 TSX.....

WITH A V6!!!

What is the world coming to?!

The TSX was a legitimate contender when I was looking for a car, but I chose the 328. This puts it back on my radar for my next car.

Quote:
Acura fans have something to rejoice about today as the Japanese automaker just released a new model here at the Chicago Auto Show. Before you get too excited, know that it's not rear-wheel-drive or powered by a V8 engine, but it's still a nice addition to the line-up. For the 2010 model year, the front-wheel-drive TSX sedan will be available with a 280-horsepower 3.5L V6 engine (most likely a version of the same engine offered in the Honda Accord, though Acura didn't confirm). The package also includes a slightly revised front fascia, retuned suspension system and new 18-inch wheels that are a full inch larger than the ones that come standard on the four-cyliner model. Acura says this new TSX model is a harbinger of good things to come, as the automaker plans to heavily revise all of its models for the upcoming model year. While we wait for that to take place, sales of the new V6 TSX should begin later this summer.

They didnt do enough. I am not impressed. It is a step in the right direction though. It needed SH-AWD, LSD, and a 6MT option. I guess there is always hope for the Type S. It should debut after the TL-type S.

well Shirley ....that is pretty nuts...didn't think they would ever take the step in the right direction for some power for the tsx. I used to own a tsx (2004) and man was that car slow...

I like it and it's about time! But gshb is right, this is going to lead to massive TL cannibalization.

Did someone say Torque steer? How about nose heavy? Man, this thing is going to handle like CRAP... you are looking at a 60-40 weight distribution with a V6 in a FWD small car like that

I drive my wife's Mini sometimes and I like to drive it kind of hard. I'm here to say that you don't need a V6 for some crazy ass torque steer.

Especially when this looks MUCH better than the TL, IMO.

The modifications Acura made to the last couple years of the TL-S minimized torque steer pretty well - and that was with quite a bit more power.

IMO it's not a brilliant car, but it seems like a decent compromise. I'd certainly perfer it over say a Lexus ES350 and think its comparable in price/features to a FWD A4.

Why worry about the inside of the car when the outside makes a baboon's ass look good?

I had wrong-wheel drive once and will never go back to it again. I wouldn't worry about it "cannabalizing" the brand as there is no way they will let it come with SH-AWD.

I like the looks better than the TL, but thats like saying that I think Rosie O'Donnell is hotter than Oprah .

They thought putting an V6 would allow it to outrun Ugly.

It doesn't.

This is a sidestepping correction to a problem Acura made for themselves with the new TSX. Instead of giving it more power, they should have made the car lighter and more nimble with a small boost in power. 100lbs off the first gen TSX and an extra 20whp would have suited the market much better than this big V6 sedan.
