Connected Drive subscription

If any of you have had their Connected Drive subscription expire in less than three years from the date of registration you might want to take a look at this thread.

A lot of perseverance and bmw finally did the right thing for me.

3 years? Perhaps they changed it but on my wife's 2017 X5 (iD6) it was four years and on my 2020 M850i it's four years as well. I took delivery on 12/9/2019 and it's good for four years.

Maybe there is a difference between the markets.

AKA ‘well do what we think we can get away with’

In your case it appears the dealer may have set the expiry date??

In the US most Connected Drive services expire 4 years after delivery date (in service date as BMW calls it). Dealer sends BMW a Connected Drive service Agreement as part of the delivery procedures.

3 years plus 90 days from the date of MANUFACTURE in the UK.

Absolutely no logic whatsoever.

Apologies but I always forget you're one of our UK brethren. Yes, just like the difference in option packages for NA vs UK it appears the UK has a different length of term for Connected Drive services. To your point though the initiation of said term is illogical.

I'm guessing they rationalize the 90 days covers delivery time to the dealer and 2 months for the sale. In the case of an 8-series which may sit for 6 months on a dealers lot the buyer ends up 4 months or so shy of the full 3 year supposed "included" Connect Drive service.

Yes, as in the case of OTA, Drive Recorder (my 2020 came with it vs the 2019s), etc. they are as long as technically capable. It was interesting with CarPlay as it was a $250 option with my wife's X5 which I purchased just in case as thought it may be useful with my work iOS on a road trip. Irony as never have used it vs a SSD in the console.

Then BMW decided to make it a Connected Drive subscription. However, the US consumers fought back as CarPlay is either standard on many other manufacturers or a one time option just like back with my wife's 2017 X5. Ultimately, BMW caved and it's back as standard across the fleet.

Seaford finally got my upgrade sorted FOC today - they even tried to wriggle out of it, despite having it in writing as part of the complaint resolution through BMWFS last year. BMW customer service has become somewhat of a joke, but at least it’s sorted.
