But it seems that the Honda engineers have figured something out here. Quite brilliant imho.
Did you not see the Engineering Explained video on the Type-R?

Also, a stock M4 is slower than a 'stock' Type R around the ring. I could care less, because the M4 is still a more superior car than a Type R, and 'fan-boy' rhetoric will never be able to convince me otherwise. And I am a Honda fan.
I'm a Honda fan too... always a soft spot for them since my first performance car at 16 was a CRX (so I thought). I would love to buy a CTR... but it just doesn't fit into my lifestyle @ 40. Not meant to be a bash, but I daily my truck and weekend my 911.

Apparently it has some kind of dual ball joint front strut suspension to isolate the suspension movement from affecting steering and vice versa.

I am guessing the super slow 0-60 and quarter mile times are due to crazy amount of wheel hop on FWD? These are no official numbers yet, but 5.4-5.7 sec is what goes around

For those of you thinking of picking up one of these, you should be patient unless you don't mind paying for dealer mark ups....local dealer had 1 of 4 they are allocated this year and it sold for 43k....I'd be a lil hesitant to pay the retail 34k, no way Id go 9-10k over sticker.....just not that special to me

I too have a soft spot for H cars, had a 96' accord that I did a JDM h22 swap on....buddy of mine took it off my hands for his teenage son years ago..and that thing still runs like a top.....

good luck finding one at MSRP. I just went to check one out at my local dealer in NJ and they are asking $15,000 mark-up. at $50k I'd be looking at M2s.

I'd only be interested in this car for $35k. no more than that.

My biggest hesitation about this car is that I think it's highly likely to have parts stolen off of it, vandalized, or stolen if you live near the city. I bet that red Honda badge would get jacked within a month of ownership.

My cousin paid $4k over MSRP for his, I guess if you really want one its worth it.

Ya I've decided to wait until the initial buzz dies down and the market stabilizes. The good thing is, from what I can get from the repsonse from emails I've sent to local dealers, is the two in Utah that are nearby are all doing a first come first serve thing instead of bidding. The problem is none of them will let me know where I'd be on the list without paying a $500 deposit, which makes sense I suppose but even a ballpark time would be nice. I'd hate to go through the hassle of putting a deposit down only to find out I'm slotted for Fall of 2019 ya know?

If deposit is refundable, doesn't hurt to try if you want the vehicle. But I'd wait, initial hype is always crazy for most recently released goods.

Is the new one that slow? I know the last iteration was slow AF in a straight line but that's pretty bad.

Somehow it comes with 20's and my car gets 18"s OEM. Hmmm

Thats what on the net. There are no official times yet. Honda also refused to give any for whatever reason.

A bunch of people over on the Civic X paid 10k over MSRP. There are a couple listed locally, for $45k and $60k!! Crazy.

Same thing happened with the Focus RS when they came out, now there are tons of them sitting on the lots, can be easily had below MSPRP.

This car did put up VERY impressive numbers at nurburgring. Topped plenty of super cars and way beyond other cars in the 30k range.

It's similar to GM HiPer Strut on assorted Buicks and Ford's RevoKnuckle on the previous-generation fwd Focus RS.

These cars look much better in person IMO. The local dealer has a black one in stock. I liked it quite a bit, actually. They have a $10k ADM on it and are taking more bids, however.

There are more coming, the first batch of 2700 of cars that are arriving now, and another 3000 by March or so. Honda will build plenty after that as well.

I haven't been keeping up with CTR news lately, but I thought I read somewhere that these cars are going to be limited due to production constraints?

I wonder how hard it would be to put a deposit down and actually get a car at this point? I've been thinking about getting a CTR lately.
