I already see some retrofits for Pre-LCI models.

The could also add quad exhaust pipes😂

Take a look at M8 facelift thread. One of the pictures shows B&W

Personally I think they've ruined what is a very elegant (albeit quite clinical) interior with just dumping in a larger screen. I just wish manufacturers would stop this ridiculous thought process of bigger screens = posher car.

Glad they haven't changed much else though - if it's not broke then don't fix it.

I hate to tell you but the cockpit of my 2019 330i is almost exactly the the same as the current 8 Series from the driver forward. same displays, same driver aids, same central console/housing/buttons/gear selector..even the steering wheel is identical!

A real disappointment for me, upgrading to an 8 shouldn’t feel like moving from a 3!

Something about the double spokes inside the kidney grill I kind of like. Don't care if it's "too much M on a non-M". It adds a bit of aggressiveness to it that I can appreciate.

What I don't like is the concave shape in the middle of the grill (where it connects). As if someone kicked it in.

Also the new screen is almost comically large.

Well, you bought the correct M5 (unless you can afford the M5CS). M550i after the power boost to me was always the car to choose over an M5/M5C. 95% of the ability without the compromise.

As for the 8 series LCI, is this the lowest effort LCI BMW has ever done? Normally you would at least see slightly reworked (but not reshaped) light clusters.

Maybe I missed something but this isn't showing the M8 version correct?

Yes, I saw those pictures but the BMW literature says it's not available for ordering and the dealer that I talked to about ordering said it's not available when he tries to place an order. Seems like that would be an unlikely thing for them to have a typo of.

Doesn't the 8 not sell very well? If that is the case, then I would have expected them to do a little more with the refresh to turn some heads. I mean they didn't mess it up but I was expecting more.

Then everyone complains when they do the opposite way, as in the G20 vs the G80. You'd never mix them up.

The ethos of the M5 has always been visually understated performance, not crazy look-at-me styling.

Haha, thanks. Yeah, that's why I went M550 over M5. I'd love a M5CS, but as a daily, it's just a little too rough. As yours said, this seemed to be the best compromise, esp because I'm lugging two carseats in the back too. Need a little comfort for those little fools, but the ability to go nuts when alone 😈

Yes it is. Stop asking for facelifts. This model needs to end (asking for facelifts).

A software and infotainment update is all a car needs over its 7-8 year life cycle and more than once also.

Not the stupid little bling additions to headlights, or a grille that is 3% different and a crease on a bumper that now goes just a little more up. FFS.

I don't think facelifts are unreasonable. They (BMW's) are great looking cars, but some slight modernizing a few years in is always nice, even if they are some small changes.

I think it is so wasteful. Just made so you can tell your neighbour you have a new car, literally thats it. Tesla people dont have to worry about this silly thing. Just get updates, cars keep better value. I think BMW designs arent also that great these days that facelift changes much.

Same for me and my M550i, kinda sucks when the people who do know cars say its only an M550i, that distinction cant find a middle ground. Also just ordered a 2022 M8 and definitely not torn up about not waiting for the LCI
