Update: all front suspension left and right including axles and probably front diff are shot. Both wheels shot. The subframe is probably damaged which they will know about in more detail later today. Engine continuously clicks like the injectors and has done so since wreck until they disconnected battery. Left fender, hood and bumper and all carbon fiber toast. It's a mess. Total???

Sounding more like it, I suggested you check into MS's insurance laws re what constitutes totaling so you're prepared...
If you're going to wait to see what the insurance co says no matter, and if they come back that they want to repair it, i would contact an attorney or private adjuster to have them on your side when dealing with the ins co.

Congrats on the new ride! Pics?

Still hoping your M8 is a goner so you won't have to deal with it much longer.

Well I've had it six hours and I can't get the smile off my face. It's so completely different than M8. I'll report more as my impressions gel.

Exactly. I loved my 991 TT for the 6 years that I had it. Had a smile on my face every time I drove it. The M8 vert also makes me smile for some similar and some very different reasons.

3days back in a 911 turbo. Impressions: it's quicker than either my M8 or M5C but you have to be well into the rpm range to notice. Poking around M cars felt faster. I suspect due to torque difference. All three are very comfortable but would say comparing practicality/comfort M5,M8 and then turbo. However, in turbo you feel more a part of the car. It's very noticeable but the Turbo has a much more involving sensation. Steering is hands down turbo. Transmissions: PDK is undoubtably better but I loved the automatic in the bmw's. Had 0 complaints! Seat comfort is perfect for me in all 3. Driving is best described by analogy of scalpel to steak knife with turbo being scalpel. Smile factor: turbo, M8, then M5C. Road feel: same order. Turbo may best supercar out there. M5 is certain best full size sport sedan and M8 is pretty special too! All three great cars just completely different experiences. Personally not a fan of new 992 turbo front/rear or tiny pdk lever so a '19 it was. Was told it's engine is probably same as exclusive version as came from Porsche to dealer with notes that it had upgraded power package. Who knows???
Limey, you'd never get the kids in turbo any easier than M8 2door but for just you and wife...Eeehaaaa!!!

Excellent news!

Repaired cars, and something of this caliber, will never be the same ever again. No matter what the ins companies and body shops tell you a wrecked car is a wrecked car. That Carfax will follow it for ever.

Will you keep your Porsche now or revisit the M8?

The Porsche is definitely unique. The keep it forever car if there ever was one. Will see how it all settles out $wise and decide then. Both superlative cars.

Had insomnia so this thread provided some very interesting reading especially that hilsman wasn't hurt, the car was totaled, and he ended up with a great P-car! Moral of the story; it doesn't suck to be you! (stole that similar line from Tom Brady)

Six months have past...still miss the M8. After much and I do mean much delay my insurance settlement on the total was quite reasonable. However BMW corporate made the experience miserable. Enough so I don't think I'd ever by another bmw. After all said and done out $5k for 5 months of driving a wonderful car!
Love the P car though. It's now stage 2 and I wouldn't change a thing about it.

Be thankful you are ok and walking away. You can replace the car. I've been through this and you'll be amazed how the ratios work out. Either way, kiss your family and be thankful.
