I'm just 51 and have a M850i.
Had a M5 competition briefly, ( 3 weeks ), kept having problems with it and went to pick it up from the dealership and drove away in the Mi850i instead. Before that had Audi S5 from new on a '15 plate, wifey loves her new car :P. |

2019 M850ix convertible (I tried the coupe first, traded it for the 'vert. Long story).
I'm 72 and clearly the winner, thus far.

A pretty wide range so far with edwarjejeega clocking in at 21! At that age I was traveling cross country in a rock band with very little to my name outside of about $20K in guitar equipment as I spent all discretionary spending on that at that point of my life. That said I took delivery of my 2020 M850i in December at 53 but am now 54 (my birthday is in February).
There is part of me that wishes I would have done so with a similar car anywhere from my late 20s to 40s. However, with pummeling everything into 401Ks (maxed out every year) and IRAs on top of that in planning for the future all of my discretionary spending on a "want" went into my watch collection. As the saying goes hindsight is 20-20 and I did not know what I was missing out on at the time but now definitely do. Then again every time I get behind the wheel of the M850i and start it up the combo of the car and the watch of the week (sometimes worth more than the car) makes me grin like a kid in a candy store. Ironically thanks to COVID-19 I do not have access to my core watch collection that live in the safe deposit box at my bank as their policy now is drive through only for deposits and withdrawals. That said before the COVID-19 lock down set in I did pull my Ulysse Nardin Freak Lab (#7 of 99) to wear for an event in late February.
As per the ask, I figured why not only show it's uniqueness but tie it to the aesthetics of the M850i. Hence, the video which displays one of the Freak's core movements, i.e., the it tourbillon (beating at 36K times per hour) which drives the minute hand. However, it does not show the carousel movement that drives the hour movement which in conjunction with the tourbillon makes it completely unique. The bottom line is that no other house of horology can produce a carousel and tourbillon movement within a single watch. Edit: uploaded the video again to YouTube and generated a new private URL so hopefully it works this time. Last edited by bloozemanAZ; 04-12-2020 at 02:38 PM.. |
