The Macan is a nice SUV to drive but terrible if you need the cargo space of a typical SUV. Behind the 2nd row it's much smaller than even a Focus hatch or VW Golf.

I agree, my Forester is a beast in snow up here in Canada. Neither my X5 nor my 335 Xdrive were able to do what the Forester did last winter and jet me tell you it was one hell of a winter. 40 year old records were broken and we still had snow on the ground up to two weeks ago. I'm a believer in Subaru now. Before I had a 2010 Toyota 4Runner and although it was very caplable as well, never was as sure footed as the Forester. Btw all cars have snow tires in winter, it's a must up here.

I know you said you don't want two BMWs in the garage, but you should look at an X3 3.5. They get great reviews and the performance is not shabby at all. If you do not want to look too BMWee, just slap an AMG badge on it and your good to go.

I live in Minnesota so winter is a big concern (i.e. most likely want AWD).

Just trying to get some other ideas. Car must be somewhat performance oriented. Probably would not go for another BMW, I like to have a variety of manufacturers in my garage.

He is right, I am not Canadian but I drive my M3 in the snow. An use the OEM rims with snows, no issues no fear of getting stuck. Just don't expect it to be a Jeep.

In no order,

Expedition, Sequoia, Q56 or the GM Twins

Thanks for all the responses, to address a few

1. Don't need to save money, want something nice that I can enjoy in the winter, that still has some get up and go, that isn't the M3

2. I like the Macan's, but can you even get a used one yet? Didn't they JUST come out?

3. How badly would people kill me if I bought a C63 as my winter car. I am looking for more of a straight line car, with an automatic

Lol, I'm not particularly in love with the design or looks of the Subie either, but the combination of the symmetrical AWD and the boxer engine (low centre of gravity), makes it ideal for snow

I got a Mazda cx5, it's not a race car but it is a nice daily, cost about 1/2 of the options you proposed and is nice inside and out if you buy one of the higher trims. The infotainment is one of the best if you buy a MY 16.

Now you trolling? 180 degree turn from your original post. I like the C63, would own one...but how is that different than the M3 in the winter? In actuality, it is worse in the snow and can even be twitchy in the rain.

He can treat the C63 like crap and not worry about it, that's the difference
