Are used Scions generally reliable?

I'm thinking about buying a 2006 Scion XA with 57K miles. How reliable are these cars generally?

I know Scion is owned by Toyota but are the cars as reliable as Toyota branded cars? Just give me a sense like what other brand you would compare these to in terms or reliability for eg. would you say Honda/Toyota are comparable, or are they closer to Nissan/Mazda/Hyundai or... Ford/Chevy or do they rank lower and compare with say VW? Just trying to get a sense of it I'm not really familiar with Scions.

Any other pros and cons I should know about the brand & model before going for it? (of course other than checking out the basics with the car itself)

Thanks in advance.

They could be the most reliable car ever made.

That says it all.

Nitrousbird is right

a Toyota is still a Toyota, be it a Scion or Lexus..

You should be fine the pro and con are still the same.. Its a Toyota, to answer your question... Toyota is Honda Reliable if not among some of the best in the business.

I used to have a 2006 xA that I bought new and put about 65k miles on and never had one problem with it. Those things are bulletproof

I had a 2007 Scion tC, drove it up to 153K miles then sold it. It's a very reliable car and easy to upgrade. I installed fog lights (with on-off switch), spoiler, light bulbs, reverse light bar, etc

The FRS doesn't have a Toyota engine. It has a poorly engineered boxer courtesy of Subaru.

I don't have any experience with Scion, but Toyotas in general are extremely reliable and well engineered.

not everything is engine related as the problem areas.
Subarus are generally decent when its comes to the NA engine reliabilty
they say 95% of their cars are still on the road

Yes.

Like any car give it a once over. Even the most reliable cars can be mistreated and not cared for (especially when dealing with inexpensive cars)
