Springs

Anyone have or tried the H&R drop springs on their M850i? I see that they make some but was wondering how they ride. Had H&R springs when I had my X5M and they rode pretty good.

Sorry search button doesn't work for me so can use that for some reason.

I have H&R springs on my Gran Coupe but that doesn't help you because they don't have any yet (AFAIK) for the coupe platform. I think r33_RGSport MSS springs are available or will be soon... not 100% sure on that hence the 'at Ben'.

AFAIK, H&R only have for 840i and iX.

My guess it should work, just the front will lower a bit more.

I'll do more research later.

Thank you for the page limeypride .

Thanks. But am I missing something? Appears these are on the H&R website and looks like they are for an M850i xdrive coupe.

Even when I was at my local shop yesterday they showed me these.

My springs are for an M550–but since they share a common architecture, they work perfectly.

Thanks yeah I read over your entire post about the springs you used to lower your car. But now it looks like I wouldn't need to use the M550 springs as it appears they now make them for the M850i.

Just checked it again using 2019 BMW M850, it is there. I was looking at 2020 and I was on mobile.

Then yes, it is available for M850 coupe.

Thanks I'm assuming they would ride similar to limeypride M8 as far as comfortability and drivability. Sounds like he has good reviews so far so these should not be far off even if it is a M850i and not an actual M8.

Since you have M Sport suspension, the ride will be good.

One other thing r33_RGSport totally separate from this thread but didn't want to start another one. On my F80 M3 I was able to do the mod for the exhaust valves to leave them open all the time. Is this possible to do on the M850i and if so is it done the same way as the M3?

How do you mod your M3 valve?
There are a few different ways.
Most likely they are the same.

For my M3 it was putting it in M sport mode and getting the valves to open and then disconnecting the sensor plug.

What is the best way for the M850i. Sorry, I tried searching but function doesn't work on my phone for some reason.

I never tried that method, but seems like people been having a success on that.
So, you can try that too.

I normally removed the spring and tie down the flap using stainless wire.
More into manual method.

I see. Yeah I've seen that done before too. Thanks.

About to go outside in a little bit to try it.
