Yet another unanswered question to BMW as to why they cannot provide a seamless customer experience with ConnectedDrive. On iOS there are discrete options to initiate a remote start, etc. However, on Android it is buried under the Climatize feature which once selected it will provide legalese terms ensuring starting the engine remotely is legally acceptable in your area.

Apologies for the landscape iOS and Android screenshots but Bimmerpost did that. Bottom line is irregardless of the app if you do not enable the remote engine start under the iDrive Climate control settings it will just cycle ambient air as per redhot47fla.
