94 Octane Fuel
I know there has been a number of discussions around 91 and 93 Octane but I couldn't find anything on 94. Here in Canada, one of our gas stations "Petro Canada" is offering a Preminum 94 Octane which I've used now a few times and I'm wondering if this could cause any issues with the M850 since BMW is listing 91 Octane on the gas door cover.
Any thoughts! Thanks |

Most if not all modern vehicle's ECU have the ability to adjust to the Octane rating. There might be a 15-20mile octane learning process of the ECU, but no harm will be done to your car.

Just like said above you should see no issues with that minor of a octane difference. It would be a bit more power due to octane boost however.

Your manual should state minimum and recommended
I’m in the U.K. so mine is obviously listed in RON but my m550 states minimum Ron 91 Engines are designed to run on:- M performance model 98 (Non m performance model 95) I personally run mine on 99RON fuel that we have here, there is no 98 but there are some that are 97 Should find it under fuel grade at the back of the manual |
