New EXHAUST for my M850i!

Hey folks, I decided against trading out my M850i and instead chose to take it to the next level--just ordered an exhaust . Exhausts are rare and expensive for this car, but now it will hold its own against my much more aggressive and rowdier R8. Speaking of the R8, there is a little tidbit about that car in there, I got a really cool license plate for it, hehe......

Pretty sure I'm never buying a new car ever again. There are other brethren out there with the Fi exhaust so not that rare. My only comment is the OP should have bought a coupe. 😜 No offense to the GC owners but that extra 400lbs of weight does make a difference.

Vic55 now it's down to the R8 showdown and know that baby in your garage is a car to die for. I've never been able to justify the cash for my "dream cars" (a R8 one of them) so I live vicariously through you and the OP.

I love my R8 with the modded exhaust--- the OP actually asked my thoughts on it pre purchase of his own when we were talking alot on Rennlist. Tupper is cool so I just bust his video posting balls.

I have the Performance Coupe and he has the Spyder--- Its my 4th R8 and its a dying breed being an NA car with over 600 hp although the C8Z is rocking the world in performance and sound and is much cheaper on average vs a 2023 R8 Performance which hits the 220 to 235k range.

The R8 drives so well and the dampening and steering comes close to that of the GTS on the street (dampening with chassis might be better since mag ride) but the cockpit is dated. But who buys an R8 for interior amenities LOL. The sound is the reason why its such a great keeper. And while I type this I do think about getting a Z06 for no other reason than change.

^ You've met some people with the Fi Exhaust? That's good to hear, I hope they are happy with the product!

Regarding coupe vs gran coupe, I must have the full size rear seats. Coupe is not an option for me. Often my whole family rides with me in this car.

The R8 doesn't have that duty, so rear seats aren't necessary!

Yep, your help is always appreciated!

Regarding the Z06, if you add that to your collection that would be sweet. Frankly, though, I wouldn't trade out the R8 for it. I know that the Z06 is hot right now, but.....meh......it's still just a Corvette. That's my only issue with it. Not exotic enough for the $$ you are paying, in my humble opinion

I hear ya but I wont fall into that "corvette" stigma this time; I just have to honestly give it a shot. But the issue is even getting a test drive. The in person cars Ive seen have looked amazing. And the sound is aaaamazzzing; that flat plane crank V8 wails.

I have always told me that I should buy a good looking car but also one that drives equally as good as or better than the looks. The prices are coming down too as the markups stopped garnering buys. Its just a thought but then I waver over my next car as I also am thinking RS6 2024 Performance Wagon. That thing is getting rave reviews too and that Audi has done an excellent job with the new Performance changes in the RS6/7.

The GC is 4480 lbs verus 4295 lbs for the coupe; a difference of 185 lbs.

Agreed on the Z06. An ex coworker (he left the company but we stay in touch and I sometimes join his car club on drives) finally picked up his Z06. He had ordered long back when they opened allocations but there was a shortage on the CF package it took 6 months longer than the original ETA.

The looks are indeed amazing in person but the sound of the flat crank V8 is just flat out glorious. I have no stigma with a Corvette as it was my initial dream car (and my Dad's forever). My cousin has a 70 Stingray (owned it from day 1) with the LS5 454. Every time he visited us in the early 80s and would drive me to school in it I felt like a God. Nobody in Nogales had anything that came close to it. 😜

As shared in super old posts what brought me to the 8-series was the fact I couldn't see out of a 2018 C7. I literally was looking out of the top 1/4 of the windshield (same story with an M850i convertible as the windshield slope is different from the coupes). So started looking at M5s but when I mentioned to my CA I really wanted a coupe he said BMW was coming out with a new 8-series and the rest is history. 👍

Yes, and amazing. The one guy took the time to show me the sound difference using the remote control for settings.

That is indeed a conundrum and you definitely need the full size seats as the rear seats in the coupe are a joke. We're empty nesters and I'm solo in the M850i 90% of the time.

^ Have you heard the Fi exhaust with stock downpipe? That’s my set up, as I don’t want to fool with emissions, CELs, etc.

Videos never do exhausts justice.

Thanks for posting, I’ve scoured the internet for Fi videos for my car, but you never can tell from videos, can you?

Which is a great segway to the below video I just posted. My R8 is about the loudest thing ever, but you still can’t fully capture the sheer depth and volume, as much as I tried here (and I’m not done trying!):

I will still be making a video with my Fi exhaust on the M850i and will do my best to depict an accurate sound. Perhaps I should use my new GoPro instead?

You guys in the USA must have a lot more R8's. Here in Canada you don't see too many.

What scares me the most about any C8, is the GM service depts. Really hoping they have improved overall, but more importantly have a staff dedicated to their top tier HP vehicles.

For sure there are more R8 sales here but in reality even that number is not that large ...

For some reason maybe 5 years ago you'd see the odd one. Lately it seems very rare...to me anyway. But it's big province so maybe there are more than I realize. But by sight ...not very often.
Then again an 8 series is uncommon here too.

Other than in southern California where they seem to see supercars 10 times per hour, in most of the US R8's are rare. That is especially more the case for recent models (2019 and onward). And yes, the 8 series is a fairly uncommon car as well, at least for BMW's.

I proudly own 2 uncommon/rare cars, and I like it that way!

In the land of Scottsdale aka Snobsdale for those not into the fact that the real $ lives in Paradise Valley or Carefree I can't drive 2 miles without a McLaren, Lambo, R8 and the drivel (not my favorite) Ferrari sightings. In my neighborhood only they all exist (minus the R8 as have yet to see an owner of one) along with a bevy of P-cars including a GT3 RS.

The owner of the GT3 RS is a pilot so he's gone 60% of the time but it's his track car baby. Me? I'd take his Aston Martin Vanquish any day of the week as although not the drive equivalent of a GT3 the car is absolutely glorious. 👍

There are always a few R8s on the road here in the GTA…in summer lol! Definitely see more R8s than 8 series, but having said that, saw an M850 convertible close to home today. Have not seen one all winter. Of course today broke a 50 year record for high temperature.

Saw a Vanquish on the highway, Saturday. Don’t think I’ve ever seen more than 3 ever on the roads. Gorgeous car.
