Oil Type, M850i?

Curious what oil everyone is using for their M850i? Do M8's use the same oil? Owner manual seems a bit vague unless I am overlooking it.

Wal-mart 0w-30 is a great option, they don't sell filters that fit though....

Try the owners manual embedded in iDrive. I'm sure it still has a KEYWORD search feature...use that and use the iDrive controller to select, or write (if you have the touch pad in your iDrive control knob), or speaking the word "OIL".

You should then see selections that will take you to the BMW recommended oil viscosity for your car. The iDrive owners manual is VIN specific instead of "universal" like the paperback versions.

Here's an example of finding what the embedded owners manual lists for OIL for my 2013 650ix GC. This should be similarly easy to find using your newer version of iDrive's owners manual:

Thumbs up Oil change

As ]TENAC[ mentioned Walmart is an option for Mobile 1 oil. There is another thing to consider, see the listing below.

https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/...bil-1-fs-5w-30

Mobil 1™ FS 5W-30
Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil
Mobil 1™ FS 5W-30 European Car Formula is an advanced full synthetic motor oil engineered for the latest gasoline and diesel (without Diesel Particulate Filters or DPFs) engine technology delivering excellent all-round performance. It provides exceptional cleaning power, wear protection and overall performance. Mobil 1 FS 5W-30 keeps your engine running like new and protects for 10,000 miles*
*Protects for up to 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. To learn more about the Mobil 1 Limited Warranty, visit Mobil.US.

I became aware of this produce a few years ago when a scheduled an oil change for mine (F13) BMW MY 2013 (now retired) and the garage had to order the European Mobil for the job. You also may have a problem with an OEM filter as well other than thru the dealer. BMW is a globe exporter so I can understand why the user manual would be vague about
which oil weight to use in the owners area. I'm not sure if they would use the same oil viscosity in Florida and Alaska.

BTW: On another posting you made some weeks ago after we had a light snow. The car in you driveway was full this white stuff and first I
thought why is nothing less covered. And at that point I realized that you were demonstrating your FORM Gun. If that's the case you get a thumps Up.
