I’m a Michelin guy but realize a good portion of the M8’s are coming with PZ4’s now which are a lesser tire. So, just how bad are they?

Unless you are Max Verstappen or tracking a ton (but then get Cup 2's instead) you will not notice much. The AWD system in the car is great and the star version is designed for our cars.

Alot of people love to say they lost the lottery but drive their cars (not saying anyone here LOL) in S1 and Comfort most of the time so they never will max the tire out anyways. Lets face it- the tire is good enough for 99% of the regular world street drivers out there.

I had the Zero's on first G80 M3 and that was RWD- no issues and I am a bit of a car rapist in the way I drive. I have the N1 version of the Pirellis on my RWD GTS and again just no issues.

You will sleep just fine...

On cold days they feel like ice blocks under the car until they reach temp. Even on the wife's GTS they sketchy until warm. I trash them and buy PS4, well I don't trash them there is a couple places around I sell them too and they pay good price.

Thank god he lives in Florida then ... LOL

Ive probably had 10 sets of zeros from all nine of my 911's (except the gt3) and other choice cars... the unique versions aka NA1 or the Star are a level up.

A more empirical review

Yeah on her new GTS they are not STAR rated.... They are off the shelf believe it or not. lol But you are correct there are differences, for BMW I've always had the PS4's and sadly bridgestones.... lol which are worse.

I’ve lost the tire lottery 4 times in a row now. Like Vic55 said not a big deal since I’m not Max. They suit me for the daily driving I do and swap them out at around 4k miles for PS4s once the rubber is gone.

How was the wear which seems to be a big issue. Also how was the comfort and ride quality, any overnight flat spotting issues? Have none of the with Pilots.

Ps4s are more all weather's , more rain tire. Piirelli will be better for hot climate and not so good in cold and damp . Depends where you live I guess.

That’s news to me
I’m in S FL and love my Pilots, been using them from way back when they first came out many moons ago.

I thought the PZeros on my M4 were bad because... the internet said so. And that the PS4's on my M8 are amazing because... the internet said so. Can I tell a real world difference for my daily driving? Nope. Am I still happy I got the PS4s? Absolutely!

It was a little under 10k when I sold the M4 and I'm around 8500 on the M8 now

The Zeros are fine. They work really well here in Hawaii. My daughter !4k on her pzeros on her 22 M3 comp. That includes two drag strip days and 2 autocross days.
They are a great dry weather tire. They would work well on any daily driver.
Dr Thrillride can give a lot of info about racing in these tires.

My biggest issue with these tires is how sticky they are. That’s awesome if you track it….but if you drive normal, the stickiness will absolutely ruin your fenders with rock chips and will do so quickly. Quite honestly, I put all seasons on my M8 immediately for that very reason. My M5 fenders were practically ruined after like 5k miles. I feel the Pirellis are worse than the Michelins in this regard.

My first 8 series was a 2019 M850i which had PZeros. It was March 2020 when I purchased it and it had been on the lot for a while through hot summer months and cold winters in the interior of British Columbia. Needless to say, the tires had gone bad and needed replacing under warranty. I don’t know how the PS4s would have held up in comparison, but the PZeros should have held up a little better than that. But what do I know about tires. The car was sitting for a long time.

Now with all my experience with tires, the only tire I would not recommend on the street is the hancooks, which I run on the track because they hold up, but they have no grip whatsoever on the street and make my M8 unmanageable on the street without the traction aids on. The PS4s and Cup 2s were much better on the street and didn’t spin up nearly as quick, which is to be expected.

I have not run PZeros on the M8, but surprisingly, with the Pirelli winters on the car, on dry pavement, and normal driving, I can’t really tell the difference between the PS4s and the winters in normal driving conditions. With the weight of the car, I don’t think there’s enough feedback from tires to really tell what’s going on until you hit the accelerator. On the track, different story of course.

If I had no idea what tire I had (between the two on my Porsche's) I probably would not be able to discern the difference at standard speed driving in regards to:

ride comfot
ride quality

Again I did have the unique built set for the Porsche 911 I had/have at the time.

Flat spots were never an issue and I had a stronger chance to see that happen as I didnt drive the cars with the PZ's daily and sometimes for a week or longer.

Assuming the PZ’s were run flat version’s since on an 850 vs M8?
