I'm guessing I am one of the old guys here at 57.... I have passed basic emoji training.

Acronym training is next in the curriculum. This will allow me to hang out with cool kids real soon!

And the irony. Getting an OTA push for 07/2022.55. May be off on the point release, i.e., .50 as didn't pay that close of attention but rather the 07/2022 as figured it would be 11/2022 when it finally hit.

I did check the published feature enhancements and it includes all announced for iD7 last year which is a subset of what iD8 got (a lot of that was EV focused). Deciding now to either let it download to the phone or cancel. Will probably let it download so I have it just in case. Can easily stop it from uploading to the car until I choose to do so.

I downloaded and installed to my car. No ill effects so far except for the minor coding like the seat belt chime reminder that needs re-coded, which r33_RGSport is doing on Monday . Otherwise nothing to report.

You can download it but never upload to the car. Have that set now with the update downloaded. Guessing.58 as mentioned I didn't pay close attention to the point release and the app doesn't show it vs the car does. Another BMW digital failure.

Good to know but the bigger question is what release were you upgrading from. One of the brethren here on the forum compared a 2023 convertible to their existing 2019. Call out including the exhaust was significantly quieter. Guessing the 2023 had at a minimum 07/2022 on it and the physical exhaust likely no different than the 2019? Why change that when you have a fully configured manufacturing line, etc. All done with ECU tuning via iD7 updates.

As for the re-coding that's a well known animal as OTAs (or dealer upgrades) will wipe custom coding back to the default region standard. I'm going to have r33_RGSport code anti-dazzle and a few other items for me but still holding off until I either keep my 07/2021 or do the 07/2022 upgrade.

Not sure what I had prior. I have a 2022. Exhaust still rumbles same as the day I installed the down pipes and Akra all the way.

Can't verify anyone else's exhaust notes but I did see that post and went in to read what was included and didn't see the wording he quoted. Not sure what that was all about as no response from him either.

Although an Android setting the same exists in iOS. Basically, once the OTA is on the phone just disable the WiFi from auto connecting and it can't get uploaded to the car. It will try via Bluetooth but that's a joke and will never successfully transfer unless one is on a 12 plus hour road trip.

All in. I was about 30 minutes to upload to phone and maybe 45 min for the car download. Put it in "Diagnostic Mode" left phone in car and walked away. All inside my garage as well. I read that you should pull the car out and have a clear view of the sky though but I didn't.

So no changes to the exhaust after this latest update??? I love my exhaust right now and would be very very very pissed and probably dump my M8 if this updated F'd it up...

Yeah as long as in your garage you can pull a satellite feed, e.g., SriusXM then OTAs will work. Have done every single one in my garage. The key being the satellite antenna is in the trunk on the right hand side within the fender sidewall. Sometimes I'll get a SirisXM drop out in the garage but that's due to pulling too far in vs my normal parking position.

I agree with your thought on that!

Same sound/note as before the update for my car.

I still would like to see the verbiage where the claim was made that it would change it. So far no body can prove or show me that it was written in the update with the list of everything.

Yes, in jest but that's the back hand kicker from BMW. They neutered the original M850i exhaust with OTA updates in 2020. It personally hit me so I can 100% confirm it was real vs conjecture. So far no more ECU tuning after that but obviously I'm skeptical and the 07/2022.58 (checked the car) is on ice for now.

It was never documented. The updates listed only the visible features vs exhaust gate which was hidden and took place silently (pun intended) in the background. Once applied it totally impacted the exhaust. My version was 11/2019.85 released in June of 2020. I thought I was being smart as 03/2020 introduced it so I avoided it. Nope BMW just included it in the .85 release of my current firmware for iD7.

Okay guys. Here's my exhaust after the update.
I didn't experience any reduction in any kind of note that was emitting prior to update.

Satellite is not used for the process. The RSU istep upgrade happens one of two ways

1. Download to your phone via the mybmw app. Then from your phone to your car via wifi direct connection between your phone and car (same link used for Android Auto and Carplay).

2. Download via LTE directly to your car. Part of your Connected Drive / BMW Assist subscription.
