No Carpet Light on M850

I picked up my M850 today and noticed that it does not have the BMW Carpet Light. How could a flagship like the 8 series doesn’t have it? The same with the front seat extension, it’s manual 🤔 My 2004 545i had powered seat extension. Weird…

Unfortunately, the 8 series is not the epitome of luxury for BMW. You want an X5 or X6 then. Maybe a 7 series now?

I would like cooled cup holders.

I didn't know there was a new BMW that didn't have carpet lights??? My M8 does.

That's what I thought, carpet light are standard on all BMW from 5 and up and 8 is still labelled as a flagship as the 7 series.

You mean the little projector lights on the bottom of the mirrors?

When people first mentioned them (there's an old thread back in 2019) I had no clue what they were as the 2017 X5 did not have them. So when my 2020 M850i didn't have them I didn't even think twice as I had no clue they existed.

So either that put them on the M8 only in the US or they added them after 2020 (2022?). Or to your point if added for 2022 on the 8-series than a regional thing. 👍 The 2024 X5 has them so at least now I'm part of the carpet light club.

It must have been an option back in 2019 our X3 has them and all the loaners I get have them.... When I browse the showroom they all have them so I just assumed it was as standard thing.... lol

Definitely not an option on the 2020 M850i as mine has every option minus the carbon fiber exterior (didn't state anything about lighting but rather front/rear bumper CF bits and mirror caps but got the latter for free from the dealer) and the high performance tire package (non-runflats, bigger cooling fan and additional engine oil cooler).

Wasn't an option I can recall on the 2017 X5 but could have been. I just loaded it up with all that mattered from safety features, HUD, ACC (best you could get that year, and luxury options - soft close, heated seats, better leather & HK audio).

An suv is taller so maybe that is required for them to work correctly?

Still like my new m850i, sad to see the 3 go though
