8 Series Audio Bug
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Stopping the engine and restarting does not reset the problem. Leaving the engine off overnight appears to temporarily stop it. It starts again randomly. Anyone else have this issue, or know how to fix it? I presume it is coming from the augmented engine sound software. |

Ozzie, I have seen one other report of that, either here or on another message board. I never saw a confirmed cause. (Small consolation, I know, but misery does love company. Also, if others have experienced and reported this to service technicians, a fix already may be in BMW's service data base.)

An interesting update on the audio bug.
Yesterday my 850i went into BMW for investigation. Full checks undertaken. According to the service agent there is a known audio issue and they applied the appropriate software update. I guess time will tell if the issue has been fully resolved. But something else quite wonderful happened. As you may have read in some of my earlier posts I was underwhelmed with the Bowers & Wilkins sound system, especially when compared to the Bang & Olufsen in my old 6GC. Well not any more. All of a sudden I've got sub woofer doof doof! And what a difference it makes. Before the update I just could not get the depth of sound going in the car and put it down to the B&W not being as good as the B&O. Sorry B&W, it was the car all along! |

I did check out a M8C in Davit Grey with Silverstone interior at my dealer over the weekend. Gorgeous car and comparing it to my 1st order in Davit Grey and Fiona Red/Black interior that is also at my dealer I like the M850i's interior better (cleaner design vs the waffle grid) and honestly cannot justify the $ differential for my needs. |

I remember the feeling when my car was days away after a 9 month wait! Enjoy it - the car has unlimited effortless power for any non-track situation.
