Thumbs down Spoiled Son Sets Fire To Gifted Ferrari In Order To Upgrade To New Model

https://www.yahoo.com/autos/s/spoile...125000810.html

Woooooow... Really???

Quote:
In a bizarre case out of Europe, a 20-year-old Swiss man reportedly set fire to a Ferrari 458 Italia given to him by his father in a half-baked scheme to use the insurance money to upgrade to a new model. Incredibly, the spoiled brat is said to have had 14 other cars (including a Lamborghini) at his disposal in addition to a property portfolio worth close to $30 million and a monthly allowance that fluctuated between $5,000 and $10,000.

As Swiss publication 20 Minutes first reported, the 20-year-old in March of 2014 visited a dealership to get his car valued so that he could trade it in for a new model, possibly the 458 Speciale which went on sale about then. The quote he received was $193,500, which wasn’t enough to cover the cost of the new model.

It’s alleged the man was short of funds at the time so one of the dealers suggested he destroy his car in order to claim the insurance value, which presumably was higher than the quoted value. Three accomplices were recruited, including a person working at the dealership, and to avoid suspicion the group crossed the border into Germany to do the dirty deed.

Once they found a quiet area, the 20-year-old and one of the accomplices visited a massage parlor while the other two set fire to the car. However, security camera footage and telephone recordings led to a prompt arrest of those involved.

The information surrounding the case was divulged in court proceedings that took place last week in Augsburg, Germany, close to where the car was destroyed. The 20-year-old was sentenced to 22 months of probation and was given a fine of $33,000. The accomplices received probations of between 14 and 16 months each. In court, the 20-year-old said he didn’t have the courage to tell his father that he no longer liked his gifted Ferrari.

I have noticed a "clear pattern" not just with the wealthy youth of today, but all youth of say the last decade. They seem to have this strong sense of "entitlement" even if and when they have not done Jack Shit!
This fugger just epitomizes it to the highest degree.

I work with these entitled brats on a daily basis. One new hire had the nerve to ask me how I got so high in the company without my MBA.

I told him...working harder than everyone else, getting shit done right the first time, 10 years experience as a high performing leader and not caring what letters come next to my name so much.

He couldn't wrap his head around it.

Kids need more spankings than time outs these days.

Well based on my computations, he'll pay the $33,000 fine 8 months into his 22 month confinement based on his lowest allowance rate

Key take-aways:
  • Don't give your under 21 years old kid 14 cars. Make them buy their cars with their allowance.
  • Red: No matter the sum, no allowance is generous enough, or enough to do what one wants to do.
  • Green: Car dealers don't ever pay as much in trade as a car is worth.
  • Blue: Whatever the dealer advises you to do, it's advice given in the dealer's best interests, not yours.
  • Orange: Throwing a tantrum may or may not work, but even if it doesn't, it doesn't cost much to try it.
  • Purple: The human condition has nothing to do with wealth. Wealthy people make just as lousy parents as can not wealthy people.
  • Brown: "Big Brother" or somebody is probably watching what one does.
All the best.

No shit, Huh. All this makes me want to crack the whip more on my kid--well, I think we are seeing this entitlement and it will turn and some of us will get back to forcing our kids to getting back to the gotta earn it mentality.

You know, not having been there to witness it so I can't say for sure, but he might have actually been asking for your advice. Which, it looks like you gave him, but gave it to him in an hostile/aggressive manner, which meant he probably tuned you out pretty quickly. You may have lost an opportunity to mentor a younger person because you had blinders on yourself.

What's the saying, something like, 'physician, heal thyself' Or perhaps 'let those without sin throw the first stone' or some other feel good platitude.

I say that as a cantankerous old fart myself, so I'm not speaking as a youngster trying to brush off a whole older generation.
