It's hard to say over 50 states, but my guess is that it ranges from 5% to 9%, with most states in the 6% to 7% range. My state is 6.25%.

You compete in multiple and usually class and price are bundled together.

I don't need a 7-seater SUV like the X7, but with a small price difference between that and the X5 it pushes me over consider an X7 instead.

At $133k starting price and an expected $150k our the door with some options, this is a car that it's out of its league and 3 years later it'll loose a lot of value. Taking a 30-40% hit over 3 years hurts a lot whether you have smart money or stupid money.

This is a $110k car at best. I'd still love those M8s out there but they are not priced for the conscious buyer.
Fair point, m8 is definitely trying to break into to a higher class. Not saying I would take an m8 over any of these cars and some are sports cars not GT cruisers.

However most in the class already start at a much higher base:

S Coupe - $169,450
r8 -$169,000
AM Vantage - $149,995
m8 - $133,000
911 C4S - $120,600
AMG GT - $112,700

Given that the m6 had roughly 20% premium over the previous m5 the pricing is slightly higher than expected but not out of line. Also the power and standard features are arguably better than most in the price range.

Fully loaded sans carbon ceramic and after my local tax the m8 came to $173,161. Which is about the base price of its main competitors the S63.

But that's the thing, I do not see an M8 in the same class as an S63. An M8 competes more with an e-class coupe. The S63 is a whopping 198 inches while the M8 breaks in at 191. I'm not sure most buyers will cross shop these two.

I love the car and I think it's a great replacement for the 6-series but making it an 8 instead of a 6 is not all it takes. BMW needed to keep the 6 and make a proper large GT to fight against the S-class.

This M8 at $100-$110k would be a strong market contender. At $150k out the door is a tough buy but we'll see how the market will react.

Damn so expansive. M8c around 150k with packages. So when the M8GCC comes out will be around 160k. I will keep with Panamera turbo better and they have air suspensions.

Damn. $150k for a down spec'd M8 comp ain't THAT bad. These will probably start showing deep discounts after the buzz wears off from the first 18 months.

I'll probably start shopping for this late 2020 early 2021.

SC is capped at $500 sales tax, and assessed a yearly property tax (deductible on Federal taxes),but to avoid the 1st year property tax hit you transfer the tags from your old lease.

What makes it even worse: It's GT3 money in Germany. A fully specced M8 Competition is GT3 RS money.

But difficult to compare the cars. I know Porsches are quite good for everyday living, but still nothing close to a 8 series. Therefore...you can get a nice V8 Bentley Continental for that...
Who gets GT3 at msrp? Not in the US for sure, thought every GT3 has significant mark up

Mark-ups are not allowed in Germany. Especially by a dealership. There is absolutely no problem at all to get a GT3 here if you bring some time and arrive early in the order process (soon after introductio).

Whats the point of the M8? They are pulling out of endurance racing and rumors are their days in IMSA are numbered.

My guess is the 'M' line fades into history. Or at the very least fades into the product lineup because everything can be had with an M badge these days.

Agree. And is this really worth 50k more than an M5? I feel I am nuts enough to pay a premium for swoopier roofline on my 4 door but this pricing seems silly. I guess it boils down to writing a check for exclusivity.

It's not the MSRP that is so dumb, but the depreciation from that MSRP that BMW's have. Even an optimistic 61% residual for an M8 Coupe at $133k, is horrible when considering a Porsche costs the same and will have better residuals. My crystal ball tells me there will be a lot of M8 leases in the future. Lol!
Hi buddy how are you? Long time no see.... speaking of residual, its even worse then M850 so should be something like 53%.... with todays MF I bet its over 2k per month lease payment!!!
Dude! I am good. I'm still around. I lurk on the forums occasionally. Lol! I've been super busy. I'm currently holding out for the 2024 G90 M5, then you will see me more on the forums again. Lol!

No. You can even get a new 3RS at MSRP. only Porsche still selling above MSRP is the 2RS.

But I'm interested to see what these will lease for in a year or two. Hoping another M3CS saga happens!!!

Has anyone purchased one of the M8's or Comp models yet in the states?
Anyone seeing anything lower than MSRP pricing?
