BMW could still do that with the F82, and then we'd both be right...we have already started seeing the dopey "special" editions for the M4.

I've never seen an E36 M3 CSL at the mall. Perhaps CS. Track oriented and also mall ready. Or perhaps you are only at the mall and not at the track. I see plenty of M4 GTS on track. GTS is to be replaced by CSL and indeed these are track focused and not seen often seen at a mall .. or maybe it's that I never go to the mall. |

The only point of this is for BMW to increase profits selling this thing to people that must have the latest and greatest. Take away a bunch of parts to "save weight", throw on aero that cost them next to nothing and charge people 30% more money for the car. Seems to be the perfect recipe to me....
You don't take a butcher knife to make sushi so why would you buy a big ass heavy M8 for the track? GT3RS makes a whole lot more sense no matter how much lighter they make this car.

Should shrink the kidneys too based on recent studies! Anyways. M8 stops in a shorter distance than the Civic type R so as long as the owner can afford pads and tires the weight isn't an issue. Obviously less weight would allow it to properly compete with its top rivals the 911 and Lambo but with CLAR there's not a whole lot more to do. I'm hoping this is the last hurrah for the V12 engine and BMW makes the 8 series CSL a legend. |

Upcoming US market "speed edition" limited to 50 units. Invite only like the M4 GTS.

Agreed that Alpina street cars have always had an approach more geared towards touring than track (hence historically their more liberal adoption of automatic transmissions and torquey vs hi-rev engines) so with that type of GT wing, I'd put my money on it being an M GmbH product.
That being said, Alpina has also had quite a history with 2 door automobiles.

Trim 800 lbs off of an M8 and then it will deserve a CSL badge on the boot.

In the introduction video of the M8 Moto GP safety car, the CEO of ///M hinted that they were testing new technology in the safety car that would eventually trickle down to production cars. I wonder if that technology will be part of the package tested here.
IMO, this is a CS. My understanding is that CSL variants will have much more significant body alterations.

Maybe cuz I went from a mustang to a BMW. But am I the only one thinks an M8 like this might be able to keep up with new GT500? Both FiV8 4200+lb and with mustang now reaching $110k.

Make me feel proud that I purchased something special? Yes. 4 versions of basically the same car do not make it special. The e60 M5 was special. The e39 was special. |
