M8 - Magnetic Phone Mounts

Anyone have a suggestion for a good magnetic phone mount? I had the ones that you stick I to the AC vents but it broke my vent (for what it's worth was pretty flimsy for a 150k car). Now looking for something that won't break the car. Any suggestions?

There's an older thread on this subject that has several suggestions from forum members including the magnetic mount I purchased based on the recommendation.

I asked my Q because the new iPhones have MagSafe built in, so a slew of third party magnetic mounts will be hitting the market shortly.

Found the old thread (https://f92.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1718897) and the magnetic mount may work with the new MagSafe built into the iPhone 12 as it appears to be in the center of the phone.

It may work, and it may not, but MagSafe is more than a magnet, it also allows for faster charging.

I understand that as have had same function on Macbook Pros, etc. You asked about phone mounts not charging. Unless some 3rd party includes a magnetic car mount that wires to a USB/USBC port the charging is AWOL.

Here's one of the first to offer magnetic mount and charging. There will be more.

They will definitely keep coming but I'd pass on this one as it appears tied to the HVAC vents which causes it's own issues and @jh00@aol.com recently reported the HVAC vent mount he had broke the vent. Here comes the kicker though "supports fast wireless charging on the iPhone 12, as long as you have a compatible car charger to plug it into". The problem being is only the USB C in the center console stands a chance of supporting the MagSafe fast charging capabilities. Meaning whatever mount utilized needs to be cabled back to it.
Standard equipment
The following USB ports are installed as standard equipment:
•USB type A with 1.5A charging function and data transfer
•USB type C with 3A charging function and data transfer

I've had a wireless charger in my vent for several years now with no damage to the vent. It does occasionally wiggle it's way loose a bit and I have to push it back in, but overall I've been happy with it. In the summer I open the vent to allow cool air to blow on the phone to keep it cool while charging and in the winter I close that vent so hot air doesn't blow on it. I have had a few instances where the phone told me it was getting too hot while charging there, but proper vent/air management seems to have fixed that.
