I think the takeaway here is tread very cautiously when it comes to mods. In addition and as I previously stated sometime ago, even of you reverse mods to the ECU etc. BMW may very well still be able to tell if the vehicle was operating outside of its factory set parameters. As Remo in the movie Casino wisely said...why take a chance?

Hey Guys
heres the update about the car
car pretty much came back today to my house ( not fixed)
dealer pretty much gave me a nice middle finger and wanted 4500 for repair.
i told them to go suck a d***.
i guess im just gonna have to order the parts and get this resolved myself or something.
i called bmw na and opened case but that doesnt even seem helpful at all.

Joke of the day
Dealer told me i should thank them
for giving me a complimentary tow service.

Take it to RDB - they can get it done for half the price.

Very sorry to hear that and regardless of whom may be right in all this (BMW vs. customer), I would have expected a little bit more empathy and trying to come to terms in a different way with some minimum goodwill. It is an M8 after all. That is just my take in such a situation. I hope you get your ride fixed for way less money (possible as others said) and that you will be up and running soon again with the same degree of satisfaction as before. Good luck.

He said BMW won't confirm whether my -0.1" circumference delta is supported or not but he felt it was within tolerance since it's actually closer to 1:1.

@OP, here are your numbers. I don't understand the tolerances at play here--I'll leave that to the experts--but the difference is substantial enough to give me pause. I'm not sure if the reversal as to the larger circumference is significant.

285/35 = 87.5
305/30 = 85.4
... front:rear circumference delta = 2.1" (front is larger)
... + 1.2" relative to stock
It seems like tire size isn't the problem. Perhaps the axle was disturbed during lowering spring installation and not seated correctly.

Well don't burn your bridges because you may need them again. I know you're frustrated.

Yeah, I really don't know remotely enough about the topic to comment so I'm defaulting to posting data in the event it helps.

I've been told by BMW-informed sources I trust that there are "rotational circumference" (their words, not mine) tolerances at play but, as is the norm, no numbers were quoted.

Not much help I know.

Lesson learnt, l keep my cars stock now, l don't like messing with good thing.
Performance cars are so fast, brake and handle so well these days I see little reason to change them mechanically
