Rear seat headrests?

I wanted to see if anyone here had any success or tips for removing the rear headrests from the 8 series or M8 convertible.

I asked the BMW Genius and they said talk to parts...useless. I'll ask my SA at my upcoming 1200 mile M break in service and see what they say. I am sure they won't have an answer...

I found this drawing which shows how it's anchored but can't tell how to "release" #2. I thought it might be friction fit, but I pulled pretty hard on it with no give.

Thanks!

It's probably like most other BMW headrests; there should be a tab you depress at the base of one of the posts.

Looks like it's pictured in the diagram.

There was an earlier thread on the forum discussing the same topic. Not sure if the OP on it ever found a solution but you might want to search to find it to see if he/she did.

Have you tried pushing the side of the headrest? I thought I recall there being a hidden button within the headrest?
