Why would you track this car? Obviously he's got stock tires, suspension, etc. I get wanting to go fast. Back in high school I had an 81 Z-28 that I had up to 147, couldn't get to 150 due to a hood scoop that was loose. No air bags, no seat belt usage (that's how old I am). But I did this on a straight away. Same with my 6 series. I've had it up to 130 on the interstate but it was a straight road and no traffic.
He is on a closed course with a racing helmet on with a safety team on standby….. Sounds reasonably ideal for driving fast. Just made a costly error on a tight course.

As said, not a track day. It’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and you can watch it live.

+1 agreed. Too much throttle

The ultimate understeering machine

People that think weight doesn't matter when you have big power and big brakes need to see this

At least the hay bales were effective.

To theorize, is it more an unsteady hand that leads to the wobbling or a soft suspension (compared to an actual M). I struggle to comprehend the whole spectacle.

Aggressive driver plus severe understeer yields frontal crash.
Aggressive driver plus over steering car yields rear crash.

Take your pick. I guess frontal crash is safest.

I figured if I caused more than $30k worth of damage at a track at speed, my life insurance policy may be taking over anyway (whether from the crash or from my wife)...
This is at Goodwood Festival of Speed. The manufacturer runs the cars up the hill, so they are self insured.

That sucks especially televised.
But if you spend enough time on track it's not if but when you're going to go off.
Simple mistake of carrying too much speed. Also looks like the car was unweighted right before entry.
Must be a challenging part of the course.
Check out the marks from others locking them up in the same area.

If you watch his gloves just before the turn you will see he badly underestimated the angle of the turn. He was done before he was halfway through the corner.

Because he underestimated the angle he brought too much speed with him and well...went for a hay ride.

It is not the tyre. To much speed for the last corner. It is a long car and S curve is very dificult for longwheelbase cars.

You're supposed to drink Paulaners after you're done driving, not before.
