Not exactly. The quote was in comparison to the 911 GTE/LM/RSR using a reversed engine and transaxle layout while remaining within the rules. Context is important.

The torque tube is wider than the standard driveshaft though, I'm hoping this won't mean the petrol tank is small - I'd like to see 80 litres minimum for a decent touring range.
Regardless of the layout, the ZF 8HPTU3 is what's fitted, just as it is in the F90. While the ZF 8_P Family is offered in a transaxle configuration, it has not been combined with AWD. The M8 road car, which is AWD, would require a layout much like the R35 GT-R.

"The chassis for the M8 road is built in the same line as the GTE cars, and the engine location and transaxle concept are exactly the same in both cars," says Marquardt.

I wouldn't be mad about a BMW V8, Awd Gt-R! That would a gt-R on roids that looks better inside and out!! Do you guys think they would sell the car without backseats if it ate into the space too much?

Rear seats deletion would look pretty ridiculous on what will otherwise be a pretty large and heavy 4WD GT superports/luxury coupé... No, it's certainly going to be just a pretty large bump between the two rear seats that will be seamlessly merged into the front center console, similar to the GT-R or DB11.

That was my feeling, that with the size and everything they wouldn't want to sell it without back seats.

Yup. Great example here of how photo distortion changes a car
