Rear Daytime running lights

I have never paid attention to this but when driving behind the M8 I noticed that the tail lights have an illuminated light strip running while the lights are off during the daytime.
Same as the front. Was I just oblivious to what BMW is doing or is that an 8 Series thing?

Either way, I like it and it looks cool

Hard to tell. I can't get back there fast enough to keep an eye on it.

Not perfect to see on the pic but the LED line is on when the lights are off on the car.

Nevermind. Apparently rear daytime running lights are standard fare on the M5...
Just completely missed that

You are able to switch on/off the rear DRL in the iDrive menu (ID7), under exterior lighting. Cars with the new software have this function, at least in Europe.
