Got a Palisade

I honestly cannot believe it. I never ever ever thought I’d buy a Hyundai. But we bought a Palisade this weekend. Yes it is that good. Three row land yacht. Comfy one at that, and amazing tech.

Did quite a thorough comparison and test drives. Looked At Ford Explorer, GMC Yukon Denali, Nissan Armada, Infiniti QX56, Cadillac Escalade, Honda Pilot, Dodge Durango. Drove them all too, except the Caddy (I assume similar to the Denali). Will see how it holds up to delivering kids to soccer and hockey. The wear and tear is huge on our vehicles from the kiddos.

Congrats they are nice 3 row SUV's! I like the Kia Telluride a little better in the styling, but both are strong.

I’ve only ever driven Hyundai Elantras and thought it was an awesome vehicle or for the money.

Got any pics? What’s so great about the tech? How did it compare to the competition?

I have a friend/colleague who was about to replace his X5. He decided that the new X5 wasn't worth the money and instead would get a Palisade. Then he changed his mind and told me he was getting a minivan.

I told him that it would suck the soul out of him. He said: "no...it will suck the soul out of my spouse; I am going to get an Aston".

The story aside, the Palisade and Teluride are great vehicles and Hyundai is doing a terrific job at making cars. If BMW doesn't get a stylist with style, Hyundai will eat its lunch.

Seen several newer Hyundais on the roads recently, really liked what I saw.

They've come a long, long way since their beginning, and keep making great strides in the styling dept. From what I've read, quality and reliability are pretty good, too.

I almost put a order on a Kia telluride. I also like the Kia more from the outside then the Hyundai. But they do drive nice especially for the money you pay,

I have a friend whose last vehicle was a Porsche Cayenne. She is a luxury buyer. She just traded for Kia Stinger GT. She keeps her cars after pay-off, and was tired of $200 oil changes and $4k brake jobs, she said.

Nothing wrong with Hyundai. I used to have one.
Congratulations! I've heard that some former BMW executive now works for them.

The Genesis SUV is further going to steal German market. This is the risk of 5,000 pound SUV's. They're all the same.

They're not 4k.

2k is high but more believable.

Congrats.

It's definitely shocking to see how the industry has changed. Hyundai/Kia used to solely be a brand that made mediocre vehicles for people with poor credit. Sure their residuals haven't quite caught up to Toyota/Honda, but otherwise their vehicles are just as good if not even better than their Japanese competitors nowadays.

I think Lexus has the most to be worried about. As far as the product goes, the GV80 has he RX beat in every way imaginable.

She may have said $2k. I was still processing that she bought a Stinger. Lol

She lives out near San Jose, and I am going to be there in March. I am looking forward to driving the Kia

Lexus has nothing to be worried about. The RX is the best selling luxury SUV in North America by a wide margin. They have a full redesign coming in 24 months or so as well. This is like saying the G70 should have had Mercedes or BMW worried it would knock the C and 3 off their perch. Hyundai/Genesis are creating awesome vehicles no doubt, but especially for Genesis it takes more than a great vehicle to lure away buyers from established and iconic nameplates.

Ha. All it takes is one bad product (looking at you F Series) to see loyal backers go to the hot, new product. Nothing really differieret, big, heavy SUV's except style and reliability. Lexus has been working on some dodgy styling recently and Hyundai has pretty similar reliability. Hopefully Lexus fixes the RX sizing this time and doesn't need a separate long wheel base version.

You mean Albert Biermann who was the former M boss.
The Kia stinger and the Hyundai Veloster N was his doing.

A lot of people thought the polarized styling of the current RX was going to be huge flop. Obviously this wasn't even remotely the case.

Hopefully you got a good deal OP, dealer markups on these since release have been a little nutty. By all accounts they’re great cars.

You have a fair point. The RX is the #1 seller with a lot of brand loyalty. But compared to the German makes I wouldn't be surprised if the RX will be cross shopped more with the GV80.

I'd like to think the average consumer would realize the RX is a front wheel drive based econo car on stilts and the Genesis is at least rwd based. But I know they won't.

The Mom's and Dad's driving these Lexus' couldn't care less about drivetrain layouts or whether the car rides on the same platform as the Toyota Camry. All that matters is that lexus reliability and service is top notch, and that the RX is a comfortable car that satisfies their needs of transporting themselves and their family with ease and having a peace of mind ownership experience. Those who care about drivetrains and sporty handling know to avoid Japanese luxury cars (except for a few standouts over the years, like the G37, G70, IS, etc.)

The RX succeeds in its mission which is completely different to that of the BMW's or others.
