Compact spare wheel tire options for 8 series

I am waiting for the Alpina B8. Are there any compact spare wheel tire options that would work for the 8 series? I know it would not have a dedicated pre built space to store it but the trunk has plenty of room. I don’t like driving in remote mountain areas without a self sufficient back up. Thanks.

It’s funny I can find a part number for the emergency wheel
36118090622

But it doesn’t provide any part number for the tyre!

This part number 36-11-8-090-622 shows fitment for X3M, X4M, M5, M8. ECS lists M8 coupe, convertible, and gran coupe, so this is promising?

Specs 4J x19 ET 13.

There are a few threads for the X3M as it was a factory option with a space under the rear floor for the spare. A few folks have purchased the parts and swapped after. Obviously not going to fit under our floor as it wasn't designed for it. But if the wheel bolts up, clears caliper, then it seems you could build a kit around this part?

You could probably fit one in the truck; but there isn't a spare with run flat tires.

These cars are equipped with runflat tires from factory unless you opt for the Cooling and High Performance Tire Package (+$1,850) which then comes with high performance non run-flat tires. In the latter case the car should have the S02VC Tyre Repair Kit (for emergencies).
Though the whole idea of runflat tires is not having to worry in case of a puncture. With these you should be able to drive 50-100 miles which is plenty to make it back to a safe location.

My 2022 Alpina B8 order is being built with 20" non run flat tires and I am still looking for a compact spare to put in the trunk. So far no luck finding one.

Waking up this old thread to show my spare.

Naturally, I replaced the awful run-flats immediately after buying our 2020 840xi GC. I added a tire sealer and inflator to the trunk. However, on other spareless cars I've had holes the sealer couldn't fill before... In fact I'm not sure I've ever had the sealer work as promised.

And I've been stuck in the middle of nowhere for hours waiting on AAA... And when AAA eventually comes and you're not near home, will you be able to find a shop and get a replacement tire? When the closest shop opens the next morning, will they have your unusual tire size in stock or will they have to order it? Without your car how will you get around with your family while you wait?

Anyway not having a spare is fine until something goes wrong on a road trip and then it's a disaster so I'd rather just be self-sufficient.

With this jack kit:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09JJTW2ZV...p_mob_ap_share

Plenty of room left in the trunk. Hopefully I won't need it because I can't drive just 50... But at least I'll be moving.

I also went with the bimmerzone spare with jack kit. I did a test fit, clears my brakes without issue.

I did the bimmerzome spare as well but went with a modernspare kit which had a tote (the m6 kit worked nicely) https://modernspare.com/product/2012...sory-only-kit/

I was looking at the Modern Spare spare tire they list for the 8 series.
https://modernspare.com/product/2018...e-kit-options/
I can't understand how they feel a 26.6 diameter inch spare could be used. The BMW one is offering a 27.5 inch total diameter so I assume that is correct.

Will admit I drive around with clenched butt not having a spare on board. The green goo from hell is not my fave way to fix a flat.

Little wheel for M850

Big wheel for M8

They have different OEM tire diameters. Shouldn't (IMO), but they do.

Bimmerzone will mount a different size tire to the rim if you need a different diameter. Mine is actually a 155/70R19 for the Alpina. Just contact them.

Bought the Modern spare version today. Ouch.
Anyway hope to never need it.
Now I can unclench a bit as was said above. What a joke that they can't design one of these into our cars.
I remember when cars ALWAYS came with a spare....and full sized at that!
Sometimes new isn't always better.

Yep even though my wife's 2017 X5 came with runflats I ordered it with the full size spare that fits in a compartment below the rear seats floor board. Thankfully have never needed it but a little bit of piece of mind just in case.

Ya being stuck at the side of the road at night or in the rain fussing with the green goo doesn't sound like fun. Not too mention what a mess it must make inside the tire all over the rim. I've never used the goo ever but it doesn't sound the fix I'd want.
I prefer the actual spare tire route.
The only bummer besides the stupid cost of it is where to put it. But it will be a more relaxing to be anywhere far from home now.
Why there is no priority by the manufacturer's makes no sense.
What vehicle doesn't need a spare eventually???

The green go is what comes with the non-runflats in the way of the tire repair kit correct? Yeah pretty much a nightmare.

For us runflats folks we don't even get that. They are a false sense of security. Sure if you end up with a flat around town and can drive at load speed to a tire dealer, repair shop, etc. OK. But if stuck on the highway way with no town in sight for 80+ miles good luck. Even if you can crawl it there most likely the rim is done too.

In that latter scenario knock on wood don't jinx myself it is calling a tow truck.

You have to be very careful with all wheel drive vehicles and tire diameter.
If the spare is not an exact match you run the risk of ruining the drive train.

That is a good tip. I always have my 4wd or AWD vehicles put on the flat bed type of tow truck. I always demand a flatbed!

CAA here in Canada or your equivalent AAA plan will send one if you need that. Demand it.
Maybe if we went into 2WD the AWD system might be less taxed....dunno??
These Compact spare folks say it okay for awhile. I don't know myself.
It's a 19 inch rim and I'm on 20's. But the sidewall is taller, so...??
Not my field of expertise.
