Speaking of door handles, I desperately want to move the rear door handle down an inch.

This surprised me a little bit as well.

How about this one? The 2020 840i Gran Coupe is cheaper than the 2020 740i.

With the recent addition of the 840i coupe and convertible models, and now the new four door Gran Coupe models, 8 Series sales are about to skyrocket.

This looks so much better than the hideous coupe.

Those 'Cobra' seats are interesting.

I'm a bit surprised that the 840i doesn't have the M340i's ~380hp engine. An additional 50 horses is a big deal for cars as heavy as these. Even the MY20 X3/4 M40i will get that engine. Strange.

It's not just the 840i, its all non-M-Performance vehicles with a B58.

5/6/7/8 vehicle families = B58 M1, 335hp
3/4 vehicle families = B58 O1, 384hp (374hp WLTP) (except the Z4 M40i in WLTP markets, which uses the M1 instead)

It is indeed an interesting marketing strategy, but as others have pointed out, BMW's entry level models still have more power than the entry level Porsche option.

BMW also lacks a second six cylinder option with more than 400hp like Mercedes and Audi have. However, on the flip side, those competitors do not offer a two-tiered V8 lineup. If you want a V8, you have to spring for the flagship 600hp+ model from AMG or Audi Sport.

Porsche has the most options with two V6 tiers and now three V8 tiers (BMW technically has three V8 tiers at their disposal too, but the lowest one is available for the X5 and X7 only).

It looks great inside and out! Wouldn't mind an M850 GC at all for a daily!

Damn that back end looks a lot like the 5 series or now 6 series GT cars and like a hatchback. Not sure I am a fan of that.

I find that very weird! When I seen $108,000 GC compared to $111,000 for the coupe I started to scratch my head. Thought it was a typo

Not bad at all, but like Deda said, it does look very similar to the 6GC.

They didn't kill the 6GC with Fire , they simply moved it in the product lineup and rebadged it.

Check out the last video in the op. Thomas from Autogefuhl is 6.1 and he seems to be quite ok with the leg room. He did say the driver will need to bring the seat higher up so his feet can go under. But I am very impressed with the size being 6 feet myself. Not that I'll be in the back but my passengers should be fine.

I don't know why people keep complaining/comparing this to the 6er.
Two different cars within the same category.
