Delivery tracker

Does anyone know how to read an ETA from the tracking page's graphic that shows 3 remaining dots?

Its usually a few days behind dealer knows exactly. My guess at dealership soon or within a few days unless problem at port or VPC

Mine took 3 days from that status Baltimore to Detroit

How is the Midrand interior in-person? I certainly like it in the pics but, alas, I opted for full black.

Very nice I would not do full midrand beige but the mix with alcantara is a nice touch.

My m8 took 5 days from the day the ship arrived in NY to get to the dealer in Boston.

Your car looks great.

If you hover over the dots it should show you what the name for the dot is. "At the port" actually means it is at the port in Germany and has not left on a ship yet. Next is "in transit", then "at the dealership" and last is "finished". My car is "in transit" on a boat (Gentle Leader) that is now parked in England. You can ask your sales guy for the name of the boat your car is on and then track the boat. If you are in Washington it will likely take several weeks to get to the east coast then then around to the west coast. There is a detailed thread discussing how to track you car. You have to search for it.

Thanks.

But you misread my question a bit--I was asking about others experience wrt/ the remaining duration indicated by the last 3 dots. The current status is shown below the dots and the rendering of the car so no need to hover. What I wanted to know is how long from there to a CA dealer based on others experience.

I researched this extensively but never found an answer hence the post... still not sure so trying to be patient and failing miserably.

Congrats on your car!
We don’t have it so good on the west coast. Just prepare yourself, it could take several weeks assuming your car arrived in Baltimore port to travel on rail to the west. The rail will have many stops along the way usually a couple days each for loading/unloading. The rest of the folks experiences above are usually handled by truck carrier and thus much faster as less distance.
Hopefully another west coast US member can chime in.

Took about 3 weeks after I got "at the port" before the car actually arrived at the dealership.

Black Full Interior is very nice. On the configurator it looks bland, but in person there's a depth and definition that you won't see in other colors (my opinion)

My car was in transit (on the ship) status and it arrived at the VPC last Saturday. Funny thing is the status went back to “at the port” on the tracker.

Oh, that's interesting. So, basically what I should read into the progress data is it's f#cking meaningless.

PS: what's VPC? Did you mean perhaps VDC...

I have full black merino in my '20 M5 Comp right now--I like it but I'd prefer a bit more contrast. Everything else about this particular M8C GC aligned perfectly with my custom build so since I "like" the black and it's nowhere near a deal breaker, I decided to run with it.

Hopefully I love it!

FWIW

Lastly, the timelines below are general, if everything goes as planned. There could always be delays if you get stuck in customs, or if your vehicle had some damage during shipping (repaired at VPC), etc.

-Build start (150) to build finish (155): 1-2 weeks.
-Build finish (155) to Scheduled for Carrier (182): 1 day.
-Status 182 to 190 (on a train to bremerhaven):1-3 days.
-Status 190 to 193 (at port awaiting a ship): 1-2 days.
-Status 193 to 195 (on a ship): 3-5 days for east coast delivery, 5-12 days for west coast delivery (more detail on this later)
-Shipping time from Bremerhaven to East Coast: 12-17 days depending on the number of stops.
-Shipping time from Bremerhaven to West Coast: About 30 days.
-Offload at port: 1 day
-Processing through customs: 1-2 days
-Process through BMW Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) and onto a carrier: 2-5 days.
-Shipping time on carrier to Dealership: 1-4 days.

My dealer said by March 15th so I called them asking how that's possible if it's still in Germany. He said the 15th was a buffered date and it'll likely be here earlier. So I dunno. Someone also mentioned earlier that they've seen the progress tracker go backwards so I'm gonna go with optimism...

Ten days from port to the dealer? That would seem to be unrealistically fast.

My car went on a boat February 27th and the boat went to England is not headed to Columbia with an ETA of March 15th. It still has to get to the west coast and who knows if the ship stops in other ports before my car rolls off. Then a couple days in customs and VPC, then the dealer so 30 days from "at the port" seems likely for me.

If your car is already "at the port" in the US, March 15th is very reasonable.

Good luck and hopefully you get it quickly!!!

I can confirm that the tracker goes from At the port (Germany) to in Transit (ship) and then backwards to At the port when it arrives in the US. It then goes forward until the car is delivered.

Yes - I checked it every day until I picked it up.

Ah, that might explain the dealer's optimism.

Thanks!

And likewise; I'm checking every day/hour.

My experience as well. As per Noushy's point, once it hits the US port it will flip back to the port as it goes though customs, VPC and finally hits an auto transport to the dealer. I was so anal I had my CA provide the auto transport and depending on whom it is you can track it from there via the provider's services. Thankfully the transport company trucking my M850i to the dealer provided tracking services so I could watch it make it's way to AZ from Long Beach CA.
