Not yet, but I would assume in the coming weeks. I just found out my 2023 M8 Competition Gran Coupe will go into production on 2022/03/13 (Year/Mo/Wk), so the week of the 28th of March.

Yes, I am serious about the audio quality in my daily driver. For that fact my home audio is a heavily optioned 5-series from a cost standpoint. Enjoy your HK but I'll choose differently any day of the week.

Truly curious on this. For all those complaining about not being able to get the B&W there are aftermarket options for the "audiophile" in you. Why are folks so hard and fast that it has to be OEM B&W if it's really about sound quality? Not to derail this thread even more.....

More like why are folks so up in arms over the B&W. If really about being an audiophile in some fashion, then find an aftermarket alternative which is pretty readily available.

Oh I thought you knew of one. I'm generally interested, I've called a few because early my order was on the fence for the system and I couldn't find anything that wasn't what they considered custom install, which ranged between a couple grand to 5k.

General consensus seems to be it's a pretty good upgrade for the price. Also depends on what model though (ex: HK sounds different in G30 vs. G05) but overall seems like a good alternative for those claiming audiophile without the bigger price tag.

Reached out to a few shops in my area just for giggles to see if anyone could do ambient lighting in the speakers and have it synced with the cars lighting. It's possible. Highest price was $1700 for that plus roughly $1500 for the sound system which includes subs.

Yeah I tried Bav they didn't have a comparable setup from what they told me. I think for me the big thing was not from a audiophile POV but it just being there and fit and finish was nice. Seems like most aftermarket is about same price as the option, for me just having the option was worth it.

I remember when car stereo's were simple and easy to DIY... now you need to program and almost all are glued in one way or another. lol sux

I'd love to see the install your "local shop" is going to do for $1500.

I used to be into car audio pretty heavily back in my early 20's (I'm 40 now) and even then my builds would cost several thousand dollars in equipment alone, with me saving money doing the labor. Your "local shop" must be Walmart if they quoted you $1500, although I'm having doubts that you called anyone at all.

For not knowing when B&W is getting added back or for that matter added back and taken away again lol, it's a decent option for anyone who wanted it and took delivery without it. Having it already part of the build is better and finish is definitely nice especially seeing as it's built into your lease, don't think much of the added cost vs. out of pocket aftermarket.

To your other point, the days of the pop-off stereo cover and carrying it around

A high end aftermarket setup is going to cost a lot. Let's assume Focal higher end speakers, amps, custom install, tuning…. It'll quickly eclipse $10k mark. Not to mention that they'll need to tear your brand new car down to get it setup.

Agree. Aftermarket cost to do ambient lighting in speakers was quoted at $1700, low end $800 (which seems too low for this). Definitely as a special quality to the interior.

I hear everyone's pain on B&W not being available. I enjoyed it in my M5 and B7. If the sound is really not that good Ill add a Mobridge and stealth install a nice amp and do a nice front stage that would be better then the B&W or there is always the option of buying a used set of B&W but with them unavailable the few sets are asking to much in my opinion. Honestly the thing I liked the most was the lighting. I thought it was a cool feature but being handy I could always upgrade it down the road. I am just excited to be one of the first ones in the US to get the 23 GC.
