I love these threads. Thanks for posting. It’s always so cool to see all the neat places in this country you’d otherwise never hear about (and the cars always help too)!

I really want to pick my next car up from the PDC in South Carolina and do a mini road trip back to Chicago with it, stopping at sights along the way. One day…

Amazing write up. I enjoyed every picture and the captions were just enough to inform without bogging the flow of the trip. We'll done sir.

i love these posts! a kindred spirit! I've got over 19K miles on my X3MC in a year from road trips. These days I use a windshield-mounted GoPro and record the driving experience on the most scenic parts - lets me re-live the drive.

You might want to look into picking up a drone. Lots of fun to get aerials as you park on the side of the road.

I live in England so it's an 800 mile drive from home to the start of the Alps , i cross from England to France via the Euro tunnel (train that you drive your car onto) 👍

Thank you for sharing the trip. My wife has converted this midwestern boy into a Californiaphile, and you've given me some great ideas for stops on our next trip out there. Really appreciate it.

Lunch at Ventana, nice! We skipped it on our leg through Big Sur last week-so of course now I'm jealous and must redo the section.

Just drop your rented Camry in Spartanburg and bring a new BMW back to Toronto. Problem solved. (Well, half solved)

You're lucky. I do the same. My wife probably just wishes I'd finally shut up.

I would kill to be able to "drive" over to the continent. There's another post that just went up and he drove from the UK also. Have fun.

Appreciate the kind words. I, too want to pick up a car in SC and drive it back. I usually order cars, but my last 3 have weirdly been taken off the lot. This has to stop.
