Added some CF goodies

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I went ahead and ordered the CF steering wheel trim, M3 CF shift paddles, and wireless charger.

Installing the paddles and trim was a big PITA. Maybe that's why they haven't put out any install guides. I had to figure out most of it pretty much going in blind.

Installing wireless charger was easy because another poster posted instructions. Now just need to code in the wireless charger features.

Yeah definitely more work than I expected. Especially pulling the blue connectors.

Do you find that the carbon trim doesn't quite sit as flush w/ the buttons the same way the stock trim does?

Yep, it's a little thicker.

It's a sensor part of drivers assistance package I believe. Keeps track of your eyes.

It probably does and you have just never noticed it. It only shows up in pics like that because it is a camera. It is the camera that watched to make sure you don't fall asleep driving down the road.

Looks great! Looking to do the same, where did you get the trim and paddles from?

The driver's attention camera (lidar based) only exists if the Driving Assistant Pro package is on the car. Basically it is utilized in the situations while in full drivers assist you can take your hands off the wheel but the camera ensures you are looking forward.

Here's a M8 without the package and the camera is AWOL.

I don't understand why CF steering wheel trim doesn't come standard when you order the CF trim package.

Well I think they like to sell extra stuff. But I agree it should have been in the package really. Or as an option at least. For me I had to have the carbon as the silver "Roy Rogers" silver paddles and wheel trim looked horrible to me. I replaced the paddles too.
I also bought this from Autotecknic
https://autotecknic.com/collections/...-series?page=1
AUTOTECKNIC REPLACEMENT CARBON STEERING WHEEL TOP COVER - F91/ F92/ F93 M8

I feel it really compliments the wheel trim and paddles now.
Quite pleased with the results. No more silver staring me in the face.

On a $140,000 car it should be standard....

Apparently they don't feel the same way.
I would have liked to see several more things as optional really.
Massage seats....grrrr.............. not!
Optional seats
More wheels sizes
More wheel options....they have them after all. so why not offer them.
More interior choices in materials in various spots.
oh well...still a great car

If you get carbon fiber trim in the m3/4 it comes with it. Not sure why they didn't include it for the m8.

If I remember correctly the inside of the M4 has far less silver accents, where as the M8 has A LOT so it probably was to design to flow better together. I for one replace most of that with Carbon when I can.
