iPhone 12 Pro Max wireless charging bay
Quick Q for those with an iPhone 12 Pro Max and wireless charging.
Does the biggest iPhone fit? Don’t want to buy a new phone just to not be able to use my £350 option lol Thanks |

Oh and my X3 pro is as wide and slightly longer and it fitted in my last one with a case on as well, so you shouldn't have any problem! Last edited by marksandygill; 09-04-2021 at 04:46 AM.. |

I test drove a 420i a few weeks ago and my iPhone 12 Pro Max fit nicely on the charging pad. Mine's got a case on it too.

My 8 plus in apple silicon case fits comfortably in mine. I rarely have overheating issues but don’t use CarPlay for Maps. I do use it for music, podcasts and phone.

Concerned by the temperature the phone reaches though whilst charging.

Wireless charging is rubbish in the BM. Leave it for 40mins & you will be lucky to get more than 5-10%. Dont bother, its no loss!

Current phone (iPhone XS) often crashes during CarPlay due to overheating so hoping a new phone will be better. |

When I was in the habit of putting the phone on the charging pad then Google Maps sometimes would start lagging behind my real position (massively) - and when that happened the phone was really hot. I started putting the phone somewhere else, and I haven’t had that happen since. Wireless charging produce (quite a bit) more heat than charging while plugged in. In addition, when charging wirelessly, you’re kind of supposed to take it off charge when it’s fully charged, otherwise it will keep trickle charging it and topping it up over and over. Slight aside: Both the extra heat and that continual top-up is pretty bad for the battery, though whether it makes any practical difference depends on how long you (intend to) keep the phone. Conversely, plugging in to charge will simply power the phone from the wired power once battery has been fully charged. My Jag doesn’t have wireless CarPlay, but using that will produce some more heat by using the wifi chipset in the phone. I’ll see if I remember to post my observations and comparisons (to my XE) here once I’ve got my BMW and have had a bit of time with it.
