well no, FEMTO has been unlocking them for more than a year. the only hassle is having to send it to him and wait. Too incredible that a single company for a year has found a way to unblock them and no one else has.

My 2020 M8 was flashed a couple years back using Auto Tuner. Custom calibration from LCE Performance in Germany while I was on the dyno sending logs from Cali.

Have you seen the plate bracket thingy with the blind that comes down covering your plate completely. Cops love those.
It like having a curtain or venetian blind for your plate.
It should have a setting that it goes blank whenever your over the speed limit...hahaha

this is why serious tuners show before/after dynojet curves with top whp and Nm indicated. These artificially calculated and purposefully overestimated bhp, crank hp, flywheel hp and so on numbers don’t mean crap.

Yeah, the Dinan marketing is ridiculous. Dinan and now his new shop. Here's the strategy in a nutshell:

Car has 400hp from factory
Dinan/Carban tune adds 200hp! Go from 400 to 600hp! with a simple tune!

Fine print: The car really has 575 hp at the crank as measured on our chassis dyno and based on our assumptions for losses. Your car is AWD so losses are 45%.

Finer print: Actual increase is 25 hp at the crank. Maybe 20 at the wheel.

Stage 2 tune adds an additional 35 hp for only $50 (later verified to be 6hp with -5000DA)

More fine print: stage 2 tune requires addition of $3500 x pipe.

I guess I should have stated Dinan's options, I took it for granted since it was the topic of discussion.

To your point there are a few out there that will do a bench tune, totally agree.

The steering on the M8 is crap unfortunately. Handles well for a heavy car but wow this thing would eat through tires and brakes quickly at a track.
Here is a fun watch, sadly no actual numbers but fun.

Boy the 8 series folks are out of touch. The 8 series is the top of the food chain. Steve Dinan is a legend and his products are top notch. Dinan was the only brand to not void warrantees as well as be sold by BMW dealers. Why there is any doubt about the pricing or shock at the costs makes no sense. It's not a 3 series trying to get up to 4-500hp, it's the apex predator of BMW and we are talking about 900hp on an all wheel drive beast!

Cause those of us with M8's usually have a bunch of other cars, some of which are also modded up and much better and so we aren't fooled.

I agree with ya. Those folks dropping +155,000 probably take their attention elsewhere but Dinan is legit and anyone spending at these prices points should expect to "pay to play" here. One car or 20……when you're getting into super car power get ready to break out that cash.

Question of the day…how much $ to achieve 900 HP. Quick look at his website and it’s a pretty penny, but less than I expected.
I’m so lost on what B&W is referring to. Is it the audio speakers Bower’s and Wilken’s? Lol

If so then yea B&W is a must for me too. Had it in our Macan Turbo and absolutely loved listening to music in that vehicle. Can’t imagine buying our next vehicle without checking that box if it’s available.

I don’t think all the Dinan-hater guys swinging their dicks earlier about HP are 8 series folks. We’ve all been around long enough to hear everything there is to hear about HP and dynos and claims blah blah blah.

But not so sure Dinan is necessarily top of heap. Put your fire suit on over some of what you said there

Yeah I do not think they are the top options to be had but they are super sound. It's when folks piece out the work where the bad vibes come from. Use a valid rep for Dinan and you will get what you wanted. I was more speaking to the subject of the cost. I mean the jump from 6XXhp to anything in the 9XX's is impressive. Gaining power like that on top of what's already there is not an easy feat and in NO way cheap! Also retaining certain driving characteristics without loss and in some cases not impacting a warranty is pretty awesome. It's only my opinion but if I was seeking high power the two aforementioned points would be paramount in my decision making. I'd go Dinan or BPM Sport if they have options. But my opinion comes from a M3 lover who would have to pony up $30,000 just to get to a base M8 power if even possible lol. So 10g's roughly to get to 9XXhp sounds like a deal to me
