Post Just bought a m850i! Good deal?

Hi all!

This is my first ever post here! Excited to be a part of the bimmerpost family

So, I bought a used m850i about a week ago. It’s my first ever bmw; been dreaming of owning one since I was a kid and the feeling is still sinking in. I traded in my 2020 accord sport, which I’d bought new during Covid (was a great deal!) and put ~52k miles on. It was sad to see my old friend go, but real excited for this next chapter with the m850!

I’m a stickler for good deals (who isn’t) and believe I got one for the m850i after 3 weeks of negotiating. I’m curious to hear your thoughts and see if you agree, so sharing details on the car and the deal.

So, she’s a 2019 m850i coupe with ~45k miles on; is CPO with one month of manufacturer warranty and one additional year of CPO warranty; is pretty well equipped with the driving assistance pro and executive packages; has a very healthy carfax with regular servicing; and looks beautiful with a dravit grey metallic exterior lined with the shadow line package with no discernible blemishes (car looks new!), black interior, crystal shift and knobs, and black rims with blue clippers. The car was MSRPed at $58k and I ended up bringing it down to $55.5k. Furthermore, I negotiated a 2 yr maintenance package ($4.2k) and extended my warranty further by 2 years (so 3 years total) ($2.7k) for an additional $6.9k where my warranty is refundable if I sell the car early, pro-rated to a max of half the cost ($1.3k). With tax ($5.2k) , other fees (~$0200), and factoring in my trade-in ($10k equity), it cost me ~$57k in total (inclusive of the maintenance/warranty).

Would love to hear your thoughts on the deal Let me know if you’d like more details.

It boggles my mind why the M850i has such a low resale value. It's not like there's known glaring defects that would make it an absolute money pit to own. It's a beautiful car, drives nicely, has good power and fuel economy is even good too.

Great looking car! Enjoy!

Sorry to get off topic but new ones don't sell well either so it effects the used car market. The high end 2 door car market is a niche segment. The LC 500 is the same way

I feel mine M850 was an upgrade from mine 650. I can imagine how the OP will be impressed if he/she selects Sport +, this thing (M850) is a beast.

Great deal! Gorgeous car. It is sad how fast a $100K+ car depreciates.

They depreciate at least $1.25/mile
