Does anyones Alexa app work as intended? When I had my 2022 530 , it was the SAME situation. Extremely problematic. Now the same crap in my 840.

Currently, the Alexa seems to work fine asking for random questions, weather, etc but NOT for music. If I try to play music, it says Amazon Alexa setup not complete... but the damn thing works for everything else. So annoying !

Yes, but Alexa is a built in APP in my Idrive

On the M850i I just use the BMW assistant for selecting music. Can call out a SuriusXM station (but generally don't as they are on my presets and in the HUD) but it amazes me when calling out an album on the SSD. Works everytime including if saying "play Chris rea road to hell" it will ask whether the song (title track) or the album itself. 👍

I have memory #1 set to the media presets and #8 to switch to the media collection (40GB on the iD hard drive and 2TB) on the SSD in the console. What year is your 8 series? The reason for asking is I believe it was the 2023s in which BMW killed the media collection (across the board on all series) and changed the USB-C port in the console to charge only vs charge/network).

I can play around with Alexa as can configure and then nuke after testing. What type of commands are you asking in regards to music?

I do have an SSD plugged in as well , and I agree, the voice prompts looking for music work well. My 840 is 2022. So youre saying 2023 no longer allows for that?! Wow that sucks.

As far as the Alex app, its been very problematic for me across two cars, both my 840 and my 530. Right now it doesnt work at all, but all of last week the Alexa was working, everything except any music playback.

Heres another oddity. Sometimes I will say " Alexa" ... No Response ... " Alexa!" No response.. " Alexa" ! Then without saying my BMW wake word, the navigation system kicks in and directs me to Alexandria Virginia. This has happened to me numerous times. Weird stuff.
