Will you crash your Ferrari 488 just to avoid hitting a dog?

Lame excuse
https://gocar2.com/news/view/187

A Male Driver told police he was trying to avoid hitting a dog on road, and slammed the Ferrari into 3 roadsigns!

i wrecked one of my 335's coming around a corner that i couldn't see around, massive Lab in the middle of my lane and i ended up going throw a mailbox only damaging the front bumper and passenger side fender vs hitting a 120lb+ lab that probably would have set the airbags off, moral of the story its more of an instinct to try and miss it

(Let's assume driver is telling the truth)

I'm pretty sure it was the drivers intention to NOT crash after avoiding the dog.

You ask the question like they were his only options.

I don’t like the way they use the word “just”, as if a dog isn’t important. And looking at the video, there was obviously no dog as the driver went way too fast into that turn. Asshole.

You definitely have car insurance, the dog may or may not have pet insurance. Either way, as a dog lover, I'm not purposely hitting a dog so that I can preserve my material object.

Never a good idea to even consider trying to avoid a animal in the road. Good odds you will hurt yourself or oncoming traffic. My mindset is 100% brakes not jerk the wheel.

1. There was no dog. He understeered into that sign after coming in too hot.

2. Had there been a dog, yes, plow into anything but the dog (unless it’s another dog at which point you might as well just divide by zero and gtfo of this dimension), even if it kills you + passengers.

Yep. If I need to avoid wildlife because of the danger (moose, etc.) that's what I'll do, but if it's smaller, I'm not going to risk my safety for an animal. Humans are more important. Trying to avoid an animal when not necessary could make you go out of control. Impact damage sucks, but that's why the cars are designed like they are.

So if there's a kid on the left side of the road, and a dog on your side, where do you go?
