BMW software update to 03/2024.42

Had my 840d convertible in for a service and few things sorting.
I had been stuck on software update loop and it not installing a downloaded update. I was still on 03/2022

Dealer installed 03/2024.42 and confirmed hazard warning light bug was the issue stopping the update. Also mentioned my auxiliary battery needed replacing too as not able to supply enough power to the power steering, dealer mentioned that might have restricted it as that needs to be above 60% and it was under that.

Exactly my experience as the hazard lights supposedly being engaged is what stopped my OTA as well (separate thread on that plus a pic of the diagnostics).

Could have been a factor as well but the hazard lights will stop all the rest of the "checks". It wasn't the case for me as I knew the battery charge aspect (auxiliary lithium in the case of my M850i) so had bought a battery tender to ensure full charge but the OTA still wouldn't load.

When my SA showed me the diagnostic sheet with the hazards as the culprit I just laughed. Told him in the nearly 3 years of ownership at the time the hazards have never even been on once. That said 11/2023.50 OTA has been on the car for about 2 weeks now. I've toggled the hazards on/off during drives but all I get is the "cool down" message and the install will be ready in 30 minutes. Nope still crickets and why I suspect the boot loader for iD7 has "bugs".

Original OTAs back in 2020 and 2021 always loaded on the M850i but the last one introduced the suspected boot loader bug BMW either doesn't know exists or just can't figure how to fix it.

OTA on the wife's LCI 40i went smooth as silk but of course no "cool down" period on it. Was the biggest OTA to date (nearly 4GB) as it was 8.5 and the X5 had 8.0.

yeah i'm hoping the latest SW updates have fixed the hazard light bug!

I haven't been able to find any release notes yet for 03/2024.42

I've also been stuck on an update loop for several months now. I'm thinking about just taking my 840 to the dealer and have them install the latest software too, it may be my only option!
