Screw that. I've been married for 14 years and haven't had to compromise on one thing, neither does my wife with her hobbies. Instead we help each other reach our goals.

There's always compromises unless you live alone. It's unavoidable, there's only so much time in a day.

My gt3 has significantly better ride quality than my m2. It’s actually not even close. I have the carbon buckets and they are pretty comfortable.
The biggest issue is the noise. The gt3 is loud and it cruises at a high rpm. When you push >4k RPM, the exhaust valves go fully wide open and talking is out. |

How can you not compromise if you have a kid and a GT3? Where do you put the car seat and the wife to go for a fall long-weekend? Sheesh, everyone trying to be better than others lol… |

The problem with me is... all of my wife's goals are responsible adult goals... like making sure our kids have a good education, making sure our parents are taken care of as they get older, etc etc.
My goal is to own a naturally aspirated Ferrari. I respect her goals... why can't she respect mine

Update:
First I want to say that car is a dream to drive. Everyone here had me worried about the ride quality and noise, but we both found it surprisingly comfortable. Yes, you definitely felt rough patches, but otherwise it was smooth. Exhaust was quiet until you opened it up. No highway drone, not loud when casually accelerating. No complaints about drivability, noise, the seats, nothing. Now for some good and bad. The bad is we had to return it early. The morning of day two we got a hiccup while just cruising on the highway and it went into limp mode. Codes for fuel pressure issues and running lean. Thinking the low pressure fuel pump was at fault. It's a bummer, but these things happen. Luckily it happened early enough in the morning we were able to pick up the X5 and still make it to our condo and enjoy the weekend. The good is they are giving me a full refund, even for the first day. In the end I've decided I need one.

I call that a win, got to experience it and didn't pay a penny.
You're gonna need big dollars to get one then be too scared to drive the thing because depreciation. Get a well sorted S or GTS instead. |

It’s completely relevant. The calculation of depreciation is how much money you lose when you sell the car. The amount paid is as important as how much you sold it for. If you paid 200k for a car and sold it for 100k, the depreciation is 100k. If you want to do math to calculate how much per year, or how much per km, you can. You need those two numbers. The previous poster was alluding to the fact w 991.1 is being sold for what it originally MSRP’d for. That number is irrelevant. What matters for depreciation is how much was paid for the car. Hence my comment. Say MSRP was 150k, and the car was sold new for 200k. Being sold now for the original MSRP means a 50k depreciation. It’s obvious for any car in the world the less you drive the less it depreciates. The discussion was whether a GT3 depreciates LESS or MORE than a GTS. There is a conceived notion that a GT3 depreciates LESS, as they’re more rare and desired (which is converted into truth when cars appreciate, which is easy to ascertain). I haven’t bothered to do math because I have no idea how much a 991.1 would go for new. I know new GT3s go for 100k+ over MSRP… in years, when they’re sold, if they are listed for the original 2022 MSRP, we’ll know they depreciated the ADM. |

I bought a 40k mile 991.1 GT3 drove it 5k miles and sold it for what I paid for it. Rinse and repeat with GT3s. Just need to know what you’re doing and how to find the right deal.
Obviously if you’re paying ADMs for a new car you’re going to lose money after a while. Don’t be an idiot and don’t pay ADMs. |
