Beautiful sky, Mr. Tonka.

Ed, love to see the elk ready for action.

Great action shot, Mark.

Thanks all.

Nice shot, Mr. T. Acadia?

What does the fence delineate, Ed? Any females on the other side?

2 great night shots Druu. I'd be hard pressed to say which I prefer, but maybe the sky in the first one gives it the edge.

Acadia webcam. Looks like it's pointed in the same direction, but might be located well forward from where you were standing. Just a guess.

The fence is the boundary of the elk reserve at Tomales Bay. In this photo, the bull is actually on ranch land. It seems he escaped somehow, but now can't figure out how to rejoin the herd. A large portion of Pt Reyes has grandfathered dairy farms still operating.

I'll have to check it out after the sun rises.

Thanks, most days were nice and clear. But one day was super hazy and humid, and this was the result.

Church In The Clouds

Church In The Clouds by David Stephens, on Flickr

I took this one out the bus window, on the way back to the Emerald Princess after visiting Cinque Terre. Dealing with reflections in the class, dirty glass and roadside obstructions, make shooting out the window sketchy, but the occasional good results make it worth the effort.

Working on many more images from The Mediterranean.

Nice shot Dave,
Sometimes you just want to shout to the driver to stop, so you can get your shot !

Thanks Alan.

There's no slowing down the Italian bus drivers...

Cool shot, DC. Wouldn't have thought it was a window shot. Looking forward to your pics.

Thanks Mark, and everyone.

Here's another from the trip. I'm amazed at the detail I'm getting with my 5DsR. I posted large, so that you can get some idea, but the details are crystal clear at 100% and far beyond. Can't wait to do a big print:

From the looks of it the dynamic range is quite good too, since it looks like you've recovered the highlights from the sky quite well.

Thanks.

Looking at it again, I may have pulled down the highlights a midge too much. The buildings should be slightly whiter. Given all the white buildings, I exposed at 0EV, but, foolishly, didn't lower my ISO to 100. This is ISO 800, so the DR is even more impressive. I'm not Jonesing for more DR.

I'd be curious to see a 100% crop of that image. Say... of the lower center portion.
