Auto start stop automatically activates when disengaging M1/M2 mode
I always drive with auto start/stop off and I noticed that after engaging the M1/M2 mode and then going back to efficient mode, auto start stop is, a bit surprisingly, automatically enabled.
I was expecting the car to remember what the efficient mode setting was after disengaging M1 or M2, but it seems that the M8 wants to always enable start stop regardless of the initial state.. I haven't found a setting to force the car to remember the efficient mode setting, or to force the auto start stop off. I was wondering if this is a known issue and if anyone has found a clean solution to prevent activating auto start stop after disengaging M1/M2? |

That’s the way it works… it disables auto start once m1/m2 is engaged, and when you back in efficiency mode it enables it back… if you want to disable auto start or set it to remember last setting you need to code this in bimmercode.

Then a week or so later it stopped doing it and up until now, it remembers the start/stop setting before and after pressing m1/2. Thankfully! P.S. - Don’t know what the point of start/stop is on this ride but that shit is annoying imo.

Thanks for comments! It's starting to sound like a software problem; the last couple of days, I've been unable to reproduce this issue at all, the auto start stop stays off after toggling the M1/M2 buttons. Instead, I've noticed that the heated seats on the drivers side are always on when I start the car. At first, I thought this might be just an AC-feature during colder temps. However, the car is sitting in a warm garage, so this doesn't make much sense..

Hey guys,
Is there a way to make an M850 remember not to turn on the start/stop feature? This is annoying... On my previous 7-series, once I turned off the button, the car remembered my preference and it never came back unless you put the car in eco mode. I checked the iDrive but could not see an option to permanently turn it off. I don't drive BMWs to turn off every time I stop... This is stupid... |

I believe you would have to have the car coded to disable stop/start permanently. |
