Just going off of my experience on different cars with these brakes, I’d say it’s about 1 in 5 that squeal. Believe me, none of this is my preference, I absolutely love this car, but I can’t live with it, like it is now. I also believe that accepting the squeal is why BMW hasn’t fixed this.

Also, sorry if I’m repeating myself, but our 2021 Mustang GT with Brembos doesn’t make any noise whatsoever, regardless of weather and the Audi SQ5 I traded also had high performance brakes. Again, no noise at all.
I don't blame you. It's outrageous they squeal at all! If my car did that I'd go to no ends to make it stop. Or get rid of it. Unacceptable to me. That noise would set me off and enjoying the car would be almost impossible. Fuck am I glad I got the CCB's. They make zero noise. Only a few stop after a direct hard car wash. Then they dry and no noise.
Good for you Brother ...harass the dealer to hell. Or get a CCB car.

Man, I feel your pain. I didn't realize 840's or 850's had a problem - I thought it was just full M's. I had a 2014 550 with no squeal thru 44,000 miles. A 2018 M550 with no squeal in 34,000 miles. 2019 M5 squealed early. BMW replaced the pads at 4,500 miles. Was quiet for 2,000 miles then squealed like a school bus until 21,500 - yuge annoyance. Did all the bedding shit to no avail. 2021 M5 squealed from 2,000 to the end at 23,000 miles. Sounded like a garbage truck, not a 130 friggin' thousand dollar car. Yuge annoyance and one of the reasons I got rid of the car (which I loved dearly in virtually almost every other aspect.)

2022 M850 has been quiet as a church mouse - just went past 17,000 miles. Not one damn peep. Performance has been fine and its several hundred pounds heavier than the M5.

Maybe it was the original rust coating on the rotors when I took it for a test drive.......or, Carbon Ceramic Rotors????Name: 20220414_135318 - Copy.jpg

It's really embarrassing to pull up to a crowded intersection in the summertime with the windows down on people's cars and screech to a halt. The dust still sucks, tho. Big time.

I feel for you. FWIW I don't think it's only 1 in 5 that squeal: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1951416

I am no longer willing to give BMW any more of my money at this point.

The “all hp brakes squeal” is utter nonsense. All I drove for decades were hp cars eg turbo Porsches, various F cars, AMG’s, R types etc. and none had squealing brakes, on the contrary it was my new at the time daily driver MB 500 coupe that sounded like a schoolbus which was cured by updated mb rotors/pads.

Dealer has had my car since Tuesday morning. Had to take it in for PPF. While it was there they had the foreman drive it. He told the SA that the squeal was so loud he agreed it could indeed be heard from hundreds of yards away. They told me this evening that they found “material defect” on both of my rear brake pads. Replaced both pads, said they drove for 30 minutes after and no squeal. I’ll pick it up tomorrow and provide update. Fingers crossed…

Good luck. Let us know. In the meantime my brakes have been quiet now for the past 500+ miles.
Quiet from delivery until ~800 miles. Squealed everyday from ~800 miles till ~2700 miles. Quiet again with about 3300 on the clock.

Picked up car this morning. 3 fairly long drives and only 1 very low volume short lived squeak when I had to come to a very slow limo stop…basically having to ride brakes the entire stop. Definitely not the squeal I’ve been hearing though. Not willing to declare 100% success yet, But close. Fingers crossed my good fortune keeps holding. I’ll update if any change.

Really? I've been pulled over 10 times now for suspected racing and otherwise suspicious driving behaviors all because of my squeaky brakes. I've had to go to therapy as a result, which has cost me thousands of $$'s

I'd be embarrassed to have my name on that suit, lol. But the squeaking thing is obviously pretty pervasive...

Yes I read it.

It’s possible others have same issue I had but dealers aren’t doing right by them. But then mine weren’t just squeaking, but squealing very loudly. I got lucky with my dealer.

Agreed the car shouldn't be squealing. I wouldn't get rid of the car though before trying a few things like different pads or rotors even if it were out of pocket and not covered by BMW warranty.

Anyone swap out their rotor and have different results? If so, which rotors are you guys using?

Hate OEM: the occasional squeal, the flat pie pan look, the dust. So I was discussing options with Ben r33_RGSport a few months ago, and he thought M Performance rotors and iSweep pads would work on my M850i. Maybe reach out and see if he’s done any swaps recently?

I just swapped my pads all out to Isweep to combat the dust. I never had squealing just wondering what we have for rotor options to choose from. Thanks for the tip to reach out to Ben..

I have a 2020 840ix GC and have break squeal as well. Took it in and still continue to have the problem. Not sure if there’s any options to stop it. It really is embarrassing.
