I test drove the E63 S, 2018, and it was a bit hard, brash, a little too sporty even in it's comfort setting for normal daily tasks. I also don't like the blingy style to the interior, it just felt a bit... Rory Reid. Exterior color options are just different shades of white, black, and grey, super boring. The RS6 has nice sharp lines, box looking flared wheel arches which is just cool. The interior is functional and high quality, more BMW-like than Merc bling which appeals to my Bavarian tastes. And the air suspension should make it comfortable for the daily stuff, long road trips with the family, but sporty and fast enough for the odd track day. An M5 wagon would easily be best out of all options but BMW has completely given up on us wagon enthusiasts.

I live 50 miles away from Ingolstadt (Audi) and 100 miles away from Munich (BMW). A lot of wealthy entepreneurs and CEOs drive BMW, Audi, Mercedes wagons (M550d, RS6, E63amg). In Germany a powerful wagon fits the suit of a professional manager, who likes it sporty but wants to keep a reputable impression. We have the alps around and a lot of those people spend their weekends with their family mountain biking, hiking or skiing. Nothing better than a wagon for this. |

I get it since they've spent the money on suv manufacturing facilities but sling a decent engine/drivetrain/suspension (M-Sport or M40?) in a 3er/5er touring chassis and take care of us that want it in the states. Think about this, make the 3er touring affordable and market it to young families. Introduce the sport wagons with the beefy performance and aero and they'll go from one to the other. Plus, you'll still have plenty of suv sales with your big giant grilles and seven passengers. It's a win/win! BMWNA, I'll trade in my X5 and take an M340i touring in whatever purple you got with extended white interior and black trim/wheels, thank you.

I'm driving a '19 M550i right now. If that was a wagon I would not be looking for the next car. 1. Fast 2. Sensible room for hauling stuff 3. Drives like a car What's not to love?

Love a good wagon !!!
Need space for my Labrador and having owned an x5 a few yrs back still don't really get the SUV bit, the dog can jump in my F31 but never fancied his chances jumping in the X5. But pretty sure global sales of X3 / X5 more than 3 / 5 series now so do get why BMW really focused on SUV products. I'm hoping the M340i tourer sells in bucket loads and convinces BMW there is a market for a M3 touring. A M5 touring would also have me and many others running to our dealership I'm sure Oh yes and if there wasn't a market for faster tourers / wagons they wouldn't make RS4/6's E63's or these. If I start being sensible or have to do a higher mileage with work, I would look at the M340i touring too. Having driven 5 series for years (3 cars over 10 years), I now prefer the physical size of something like a 3 series, so an M5 touring would be too big. But then again, who knows😉 I nearly bought one, when I last changed jobs 5 years ago...this was it before the dealer had prepared it for sale.

These performance wagons are very tempting. I do love the RS6, but I'd probably get an E63S wagon, preferably for the interior and correct engine placement and awesome exhaust!
Every time I see one at the dealer I have to talk myself out of test driving one, because if I do, I'll end up buying it. There was one at the dealer in a gorgeous blue when I got my CLS, and I was practically drooling!

And that is a gorgeous C63, I love the contrast with the white and black trim!

You can buy a golf estate, you pretty much always could since the Mk4. An 8 series estate would never ever make sense. Only Mercedes has done a coupe estate "shooting break" and that's been a huge success no? |

A 850 GC wagon would be nice alternative to Porsche panaroma turismo I suppose?
