Only make it if it's as good or better than the AMG GT-R. Aesthetically, in these photos, it is already behind pace.

I have never really been a fan of the 8.

An M8 CSL would require too much pork trimming, leading to NVH overload.

Isn't the M4 CSL due next year? Would seem odd for them to release two CSL variants at around the same time.

It's obvious this isn't an M8 and certainly not a CSL. It's obviously a mule. Those red lights and kidney is BMW giving us hints. There's cooling going on in the back seat so there's probably an engine there.
My guess is that this is a mule for the production model of the Vision M Next. Probably BMW's way of introducing hybrid and electric into the M range with a halo car. They did it with the i8 too.

Oh how I wish they'd move to a swan neck wing on the prototype; would look so much better than the traditional undermount wing, in this case.

Unless next year happened to be the 50th anniversary of the M-Division (which it is)…

Boring talk about a M8CSL until we see one that can be raced.

Now here's the real top BMW 3.0CSL. Enjoy.

On Facebook I read that the BMW M8 CS was crashed at the ring today. It was rolled over and took out large section of the barrier.
