Tan goop in valve cover

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of replacing the valvetronic servomotor. I just removed the valve cover and found this tan stuff, which from my searching online appears likely to be from moisture. Is this is a problem? Do I need to do anything other than clean it off before reinstallation?

If it's helpful, I noticed seepage around the oil filter gasket, which will be next on the list.

Thank you in advance.

Probably just a bit of condensation. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much.

Yep, moisture in the oil. Kind of common. Consider taking longer drives to warm the engine up enough, long enough, to evaporate it.

Long term it's not the best, water is not a good bearing lubricant like oil is.
