The M5 is not a particularly aggressive looking car so I suppose some buyers might want a more subdued exhaust sound to match the sleeper car profile. It's probably easier to make the factory exhaust louder than it is to reduce volume. Still, if you just shelled out 6 figures for a car you shouldn't have to drop more coin just to get it sounding right.

I love everything about this car. The exhaust note is why I bought an X6 50 instead of an X6M. The old ones sounded like a diesel - now I drive an actual diesel

This is probably the best bmw of the last generation or two. Reserving judgment until I can drive it, of course.

But Maybe they should just give up on their roots as the ultimate driving machine, and just keep making these big luxury GT's...
