Nice
- Car is 80% ready for production.
- M xDrive like in the M5.
- Better performance and acceleration than the M5 Competition. Small power bump ?!
- Rear axle with stiffer rubber bearings, harder stabilizers and an elastomer bearing on the rear axle carrier. New strut brace.
- 19 "standard, 20" in the design of M2 + M4 Competition. Sports tires should be optional.
- CCBs with 400mm front discs and 396mm rear discs.

The journalist wasn't yet allowed to drive himself, but made a few laps in the passenger seat. He seems to be very impressed, it feels more like a 1400 kg car than 1800 kg. Talking to the M engineer, he realized that BMW M is targeting Porsche 911 Turbo territory. He would have doubted that before, but now after he experienced a few laps on the track (though only as a passenger), he starts believing it.

So roughly 620ish horsepower and 1800kg is what 3900 lbs. that weight is what I was hoping for. Hopefully it doesn’t ballon up to 4250 or more.

I can't see it competing with a 911 Turbo, but it's good their targeting its performances 👍

+1. While I am not generally a Porsche fan, I do respect their engineering and quality. The Turbo S will leave the M8 for dead in all performance categories other than comfort getting a latte. The M8 will be more elegant and stylish and make a different statement. If the M8 pricing drifts up near $180,000 to $200000 there may be some problem with sales...

Based on the acceleration numbers from the M5 and trap speed I’d see if the M8 is a bit lighter with more HP it might have a chance against the turbo S in 0-60 and 1/4 but that’s it. Agree if it’s priced over 180k I don’t see sales doing well. However I think the M8 will start more around 135-140k.

Yeah, but knowing BMW, it's probably going to be north of 1800kg.

The M850i coupe is 4478lbs. I believe the M8 will be +- 50lbs and I'll be damned surprised if it is lighter than the 4250lbs of my M6

The M550i weighed in at 4415 and M5 at 4285 so i expect at least that much difference, but praying more for like 4000-4100.

I hope so too but I agree with brad850csi, I really don't see it happening.

Hmm not sure where you got that from but I think they are pretty much the same weight.

On the American website they are 2lbs different

https://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/m-mo...fications.html

https://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/5-se...fications.html

On the Euro press release pages they are further apart with the M5 actually being heavier

I was about to say the same thing.
Looks like M550 weight is the same as M5!
And I believe F13 650i was almost the same as F13 M6

Who cares what BMW quotes, they also said 0-60 in 3.1!! Exact weights from an instrument test by the same publisher. Did I quote something wrong or mis something?
