What's your " I wish my 8 series car had this " list ?

I know we all have some things the car (any 8 series) didn't come with disappointment.
At first some of these things don't really matter.
Then after owing it a while I realize these things would have been nice. Anyway here's my own personal list is as follows. What's yours?

Some of these would obviously take a re-design. Just dreaming is all. I guess this would be my dream M8 Competition.

1: A small pocket with a door storage in left knee area of dash. Like
many lesser BMW's have. Looks like room to do it.
2: Massaging seats...grrr
3: Fog lights
4: A real spare tire and not a crap green goo kit.
5: Larger deeper center console.
6: Front end lift button for raising the front end for driveways etc.
7: 2 more front cup holders....somewhere
8: Fold down grocery bag holders in the trunk, like other BMW's have.
9: More tie down points in trunk.
10:More lighting in the trunk.
11:Ceiling grab handles for getting in and out up front too.
12:Sync button for AC system.
13:A drivers side mirror reversing tilt down feature like on passenger
side
14:More choices on seating in the front. Only 2 choices currently.
15:Sunroof....even with the carbon roof...figure it out BMW !

So what do wish you had that you don't have. I'm sure I missed a few.

Called out a few times in the past but my prior X5 and new LCI X5 doesn't have it either so not sure what they mean from a functional standpoint for the BMWs that do.

Often called out from those moving from a M5. Me? Didn't have them nor do I consider it a requirement. Ask the wife and she'd say "WTF I want massaging seats".

Definitely something of value depending on one's locale and used them on the prior Lexus GS4XX's when in San Francisco, Seattle, etc. Not missing them though on the M850i but it's only seen San Diego and Carmel vs here in AZ not a factor whatsoever.

With you on this. Even if just a "donut" under the trunk liner. Optioned the wife's 2017 X5 with a full size spare and now buying the same on the spec LCI that replaced it.

Would be valuable but the current config fits my needs as everything else just sits on the non-existent back seats.

Amen as although not needed for my driveway would love it for parking lot "bumpers".

Not a cup holder fan but then again I'm solo 90% of the time and when the wife is with me the two in the console work well. Well outside of the smaller size which frustrates the wife with her oversized thermoflask (but I have a properly sized one for her too we use on road trips).

Absolutely and per above picking up the tie down version for the wife's LCI X5.

This one's for the wife as she bitches about the lack vs my Lexus GS4XX's of the past and the X5's.

Good idea but simply solved with a memory button (mines #8).

I've negated even the passenger side so not missing the lack of drivers side.

Seat options? Standard buckets vs carbon buckets? Or memory seating?

I'm good with the CF roof outside of the value of a sunroof is tilting it here in AZ for heat escape while parked. Not missing it as remote start solves that problem.

The M850i is nearly perfect minus the above mentions but my #1 bitch is most likely a one-off BMW could care less about. Also, it ties to the B&W and not all 8-series are sold with it. But give me the desire and that's fully negating the DSP like I can do so with HK.

Wired carplay as an option is something I miss from my previous cars. I have no cell signal in my garage and used to be able to take calls with WiFi but wireless carplay removes my ability to make or receive calls in my garage. Completely agree with everything on M8Bimmer's list mostly due to the fact that the 8 series is supposed to be a BMW flagship yet is missing things available in other BMW models. I love my M8 but it is a little irritating when I realize what I'm missing.

I agree with #1 and #4 on your list. I installed fold down hooks myself. Got a pair from Amazon years ago and installed them in my F10 M5 so when I sold that I took them out and put them in the 850.

I do miss the thigh support being motorized and don’t know why it’s not in the 8 series. Other than that I think the 850 is an amazing car.

A sunroof option for the M8 would be great and I swear if it was available I’d more than likely trade the 850 for one.

Proper storage in the boot instead of one tiny net that is next to useless. Really poor on a car at this price point.

My 840 has a sunroof, one that opens in the front and a small one with its own blind in the back. The whole roof is glass.

Not 100% familiar with CarPlay but until Android Auto removed the capability in its settings to toggle on/off wireless support I was able to get my Pixel to connect via wired for some testing last year. Was testing wireless vs wired for audio sound although I knew the outcome would be wireless as the WiFi pushed more bandwidth than USB-C.

Perhaps CarPlay has a similar setting for wireless on/off buried somewhere in the menus. So worth a try if you want to see if you can get it to work.

For me;
The front left lower dash "hidden compartment"

Make the drink holder in the door large enough to at least hold a 10 oz water bottle.

The grocery bag holder or at least a net and tie downs in the trunk would be nice.

I missed the motorized thigh support....right on.
I agree, you pay this you expect it all. I suppose very few auto's make the perfect list. But imo and a lot of others, we kinda got screwed on a lot of stuff we should have got in the top of the companies products.
I do love the car but wish it had more.
Small stuff mostly but a bit irritating that it's not here.

Small thing but light carpet.

My 330i had a light carpet but the 850 doesn’t. Feel like it’s a pretty easy feature to include from factory

Wait. The M8 doesn't have the motorized thigh support?

I thought that was because I just have a crummy M850.

Sheesh. My 2 F90s had it.

You can always count on engineers and bean counters to eff things up.

More performance and comfort related:

Mag Ride and with a better spring/damper relationship.

Steering that has more feel (not talking resistance but true feel/feedback) as the best EPS aka Porsche has done a better job.

Would add the UWB opening. The current phone key is usful for contact, but UWB enables the car to open as you approach, without needing place it on the door handle,or place it in the charger; just as the main key dongle does. Muxch more usful, and you can have all the functionality of the main key, but leave it locked away so its not lost, since you need both to "mint" a new phone key!

If not on the 2023s definitely should be on the 2024s. I say definitely as BMW is rolling out their DK+ aka the CCC (Car Connectivity Consortium) 3.0 spec which enables UWB vs the 2.0 spec purely NFC based. The wife's 2014 X5 LCI has 3.0 and outside of a bug with Android 13 it's now working flawlessly with Android 14. Those on iOS never had an issue since day 1.

Regulations and on every OTA or dealer installed upgrade I still have to click through the legalese pop up stating "yes I'm golden". 🤣

A few I forgot.

Heated windshield.
Cooling box somewhere.
Heated cooled cup holders.
Video rear view mirror
Seat controls on the door not the side of the seat. Hate that in all cars!
REAR WHEEL STEERING
Hood vents that wouldn't pour water on my engine.

A charger that won't BBQ my phone.

More lateral right knee room. When driving on the highway with cruise control on, my right knee rests against the (non padded) center console which isn't exactly comfy.

The bottle holder in the door is slightly too small. It will hold a 500ml coke, but not a 500ml pepsi bottle. Some water bottles don't fit either.

Should have had the little storage area by the left knee that the X5/X6 have.

Heated/cooled cup holders. Maybe they are not the best, but if it helps keep my drink cool on a long drive then it's worth it.

Galvanic controls. These are classy and have a good feel to them as opposed to plastic.

Improved interior lighting with more robust color choices.

I don't think this an option with carplay. I've never seen this choice in the carplay settings and my understanding was that BMW only supports wireless carplay. I have used my iphone as a music device in the bmw connected drive system which allows me to leave the wifi on. Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and do this!
